RESOLUTION NO. 4803
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY REAFFIRMING
RECOGNITION OF THE LOS ANGELES REGIONAL CRIMINAL
JUSTICE PLANNING BOARD AS THE COUNTY REGIONAL
CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING AND COORDINATING BODY
FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE.
WHEREAS, the President's Crime Commission of 1967 recognized
the urgent need for comprehensive criminal justice planning in
the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of
1968 provided a national strategy to address the documented
problems in the administration of justice, and the Crime Control
Act of 1973 was enacted by Congress to continue the efforts of
this Act; and
WHEREAS, the Governor, pursuant to provisions of the Deukmejian-
Moretti Act, established the California Council on Criminal Justice
as the State Criminal Justice Planning Agency to further the com-
prehensiveness of criminal justice planning in this State and has
signed into law Assembly Bill 1306 on October 2, 1973 in further-
ance of these national and state crime control goals; and
WHEREAS, the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Legislation
has provided that forty percent (40%) of planning money must be
distributed through local governments or combinations of units of
local government; and
WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia recognizes the need for efficient
use of criminal justice resources and the concurrent necessity of
coordinating state and federal action funds; and
WHEREAS, the California Council on Criminal Justice has es-
tablished Los Angeles County as a separate region, effective July'
1, 1971, and the California legislature has recognized each county
as a planning district by passage of Assembly Bill 1306, effective
October 2, 1973; and

WHEREAS, due to the new composition of the City Council, the
Los Angeles Regional Criminal Justice Planning Board has requested
the City of Arcadia to reaffirm its action taken by Resolution No.
4389 in 1973 recognizing the Los Angeles Regional Criminal Justice
Planning Board as the criminal justice planning and coordinating
body for state and federal action funds made available to the
Los Angeles Region.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Arcadia reaffirms its recognition of the Los Angeles Regional
Criminal Justice Planning Board as the criminal justice planning and
coordinating body for state and federal action funds made available
to the Los Angeles Region.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall certify to
the adoption of this resolution.
