RESOLUTION NO. 5364
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA ESTABLISHING UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 12
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia, at its regular
meeting of June 16, 1987, called for a public hearing on July 21, 1987, at the
hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m., in the Council Chambers at the City Hall, Arcadia,
California, to ascertain whether the public necessity, health, safety or
welfare requires the removal of poles, overhead wires and associated overhead
structures, and the underground installation of wires and facilities for
supplying electl'ic, communication or similar or associated service, within
that certain area of the City described as follows:
Those portions of Lot 3, 5 and 6 in Block 84, of Santa Anita Tract
in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California,
as per map recorded in Book 34, pages 41 and 42 of Miscellaneous
Records in the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles County, and
those portions of Lot 1 and 7 of Tract No. 13949 in said City,
County and State, as per map recorded in Book 285, pages 25 and 26
of Maps in the office of said Recorder, and Lots 6 through 37
inclusive of Tract No. 6860 of said City, County, and State, as per
map recorded in Book 78, page 75 of Maps in the office of said
Recorder and portions of Huntington Drive, Third Avenue, Santa Clara
Street and Santa Anita Wash, all as exists on June 10, 1987,
described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Huntington
Drive and the southerly prolongation of the westerly line of
Lot 6 of aforementioned Tract 6860; thence easterly along said
center 1 ine to the point of intersection with the southerly
prolongation of a line parallel with the easterly line of said
Tract No. 6860 and being distant easterly 61.00 feet; thence
northerly along said southerly prolongation and said parallel
line to the point of intersection with the easterly
prolongation of the southerly line of Lot 25 of said Tract No,
6860; thence easterly along said easterly prolongation to the
southwesterly line of Santa Anita Wash (100 feet wide) as same
exists on June 10, 1987; thence northwesterly along last said

southwesterly line to the southerly line of Lot 5, Block 84 of
aforesaid Santa Anita Tract; thence easterly along last said
southerly line to the westerly line of Fifth Avenue (60 feet
wide) as same exists on June 10, 1987; thence northerly along
last said westerly line to the southwesterly line of Foothill
Freeway (Route No. 210) as same exists on June 10, 1987; thence
northwesterly along last said southwesterly line to the
northerly line of aforementioned Lot 5, Block 84; thence
westerly along last said northerly line and the northerly line
of Lot 6, Block 84 of said Santa Anita Tract to the
northeasterly line of Santa Anita Wash (60 feet wide) as same
exists on June 10, 1987; thence southwesterly along said
northeasterly line to a line parallel with aforesaid northerly
line of Lot 6, Block 84 and being southerly distant 43.56 feet;
thence westerly along last said parallel line to the easterly
line of Second Avenue (80 feet wide) as same exists on June 10,
1987; thence southerly along last said easterly line to the
southerly line of the aforementioned Lot 6, Block 84, thence
easterly along last said southerly line to the northeasterly
corner of Lot 38 of aforementioned Tract No, 6860; thence
southerly along the easterly line of said Lot 38 to the
southeasterly corner thereof; thence westerly along the
southerly 1 ine of said Lot 38 to the northwesterly corner of
aforementioned Lot 6 of said Tract No. 6860; thence southerly
along the westerly line of said Lot 6 and its southerly
prolongation to the point of beginning,
WHEREAS, notice of such hearing has been given to all affected
property owners as such are shown on the last equalized assessment roll and to
all utilities concerned in the manner and within the time required by law; and
WHEREAS, such hearing has been duly and regularly held, and all
persons interested have been given an opportunity to be heard.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to Ordinance No. 1375 of the City of
Arcad i a, the above-descr i bed area is hereby dec 1 ared an underground ut i 1 i ty
district and is designated as Underground Utility District No. 12 of the City
of Arcadia.

SECTION 2. That the City Council does hereby fix March 1, 1989 as
the date on which affected property owners must be ready to receive
underground service and does hereby order the removal of all poles, overhead
wires, and associated overhead structures and the underground installation of
wires and facilities for supplying electric, communication, or similar or
associated service with Underground Utility District No. 12 on or before
March 1, 1989.
SECTION 3. That the City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby
finds and determines that the Public necessity, health, safety, and welfare
require the removal of poles, overhead wires and associated structures, and
the underground installation of wires and associated structures, and the
underground installation of wires and facilities for supplying electric,
communication or similar or associated service in said area.
SECTION 4. That said City Council finds and determines that the
undergrounding to be accomplished pursuant to this resolution will avoid or
eliminate a concentration of overhead distribution facilities.
SECTION 5. That the City Council finds and determines that the
Southern California Edison Company will charge against the City of Arcadia's
Rule 20A allocations all costs of converting to underground each customer's
service lateral, up to 100 feet from the distribution line. The City or the
developer will be responsible, physically and financially, for converting and
relocating, as necessary, the overhead service entrance to accept the
underground service lateral,

SECTION 6. That the City Clerk, within ten (10) days after the
adoption of this resolution, shall mail a copy hereof and a copy of Ordinance
No. 1375 to affected property owners as such are shown on the last equalized
assessment roll and to the affected utilities.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution,
