RESOLUTION NO. 5614
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ROADWAY DESIGN CONCEPT FOR THE
IMPROVEMENT OF ORANGE GROVE AVENUE AND AUTHORIZING
PREPARATION OF ROADWAY IMPROVEMENT PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS
AND ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENTS
Whereas, Orange Grove Avenue is a public roadway, portions of which lie
within the jurisdictional limits of the City of Arcadia and the City of Sierra
Madre; and
Whereas, the City of Arcadia and the City of Sierra Madre propose to
reconstruct and improve Orange Grove Avenue from Michillinda Avenue to 330 feet
west of Rodeo Road, wbicb work is hereinafter referred to as the Orange Grove
Avenue Improvement Project; and
Wbereas, the Orange Grove Avenue Improvement Project is in the general
interest of the City of Arcadia and the City of Sierra Madre; and
Whereas, the Orange Grove Avenue Improvement Project is of benefit to the
motoring public and necessary to increase safety; and
Wbereas, feasibility studies and roadway design alternatives have been
reviewed by the City of Arcadia and the City of Sierra Madre; and
Whereas, said review has resulted in a mutually acceptable roadway design
concept, as indicated on Exhibit "A" attached bereto, and
Whereas, the mutually acceptable roadway design concept does not require
significant widening of the existing roadway, minimizes destruction of
substantial trees along the roadway, minimally affects the rustic character of
the existing roadway, and does not include radical grade changes,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. That the public safety and convenience require the completion
of the Orange Grove Avenue Improvement Project.
Section 2. That to encourage timely completion of the Orange Grove Avenue
Improvement Project, tbe aforement ioned mutually acceptabl e roadway des ign
concept is hereby approved.
Section 3. That the respective Directors of Public Works of the City of
Arcadia and City of Sierra Madre are authorized to prepare roadway improvement
plans, specifi cat ions, and envi ronmenta 1 documents in conformance with the
approved design concept.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to tbe adoption of this
resolution.
