WHEREAS, Proposition 156 is the second in a series of three $1 billion bond measures approved by the State Legislature for placement on the 1990, 1992, and 1994 ballots; and WHEREAS, the first of the series, Proposition 108 was approved by State voters in 1990; and WHEREAS, nearly $500 million dollars, or one half of the bond measure is slated for use in Los Angeles County; and WHEREAS, it is estimated that the passage of Proposition 156 would create an additional 170,000 jobs for Southern California firms involved in rail construction, engineering and related manufacturing; and WHEREAS, failure to approve Proposition 156 will result in the loss of additional State funds since existing and anticipated revenues would have to be reprogrammed for projects like the Metro Blue Line extension to Pasadena which expects to receive $316.6 million from State bond funds; WHEREAS, the Pasadena to Irwindale light rail extension could be delayed or completely eliminated without the rail bond proceeds; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1.
