RESOLUTION NO. 6020
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTIONS 5,23 AND
25 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA FRINGE BENEFIT RESOLUTION
NO. 5608 (SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT PAY, MANAGEMENT LEA VB
AND HOLIDAYS)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOL VB AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 5 of Resolution No. 5608 is hereby amended by adding
subsection (a) and (b) to read as follows:
SECTION 5. SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT PAY.
a) Police Management Employees assigned to race track traffic control duties
shall be eligible for race track assignment pay at those rates established in the Salary
Resolution for Police Officers or Sergeants depending upon their assignment.
b) A Battalion Chief in the Fire Department, assigned to the position of Battalion
Chief/Fire Marshal in the Fire Prevention Division shall receive two hundred sixty ($260.00)
per pay period in addition to his/her base salary during the period of the assignment as
Battalion Chief/Fire Marshal.
SECTION 2. That the wording in Section 5 (a) as it currently reads remains the same
with the exception of creating a new subsection (b).
SECTION 3. That Section 23 of Resolution No. 5608 is hereby amended to read as
follows:

SECTION 23. LEAVE DEDUCTION - MANAGEMENT.
Management employees shall be deducted leave time (either sick, vacation or
management leave, as appropriate) for absences from work for periods ofless than a day (a
full daily shift).
SECTION 4. That Section 25(e) and (t) of Resolution No. 5608 are hereby amended
to read as follows:
SECTION 25. HOUDA YS (e). Management and General Employees, except police
management. assigned to an alternative work week may use accrued vacation time, accrued
comp time, floating holiday time or unpaid leave to make up the difference between the
provided eight (8) hours of holiday pay and the actual number of regularly schedule working
hours for a designated holiday. For example, if a holiday falls on a day an employee is
scheduled to work nine (9) hours, the employee shall receive eight (8) hours of holiday pay
and be permitted to use other accrued leaves to make up the extra hour for that day.
SECTION 25 (t). Management employees in the Police Department, who are
assigned to an alternate work schedule under the 9/80 plan, shall receive one (I) extra hour
of holiday for any holiday that falls on a scheduled nine (9) hour work day. For example, if
a holiday falls on a day a police management employee is scheduled to work nine (9) hours,
the employee sha)l receive nine (9) hours of holiday pay.
SECTION 5. That Sections (t) and (g) of Section 25 of Resolution No. 5608 as
currently designated shall be changed to be designated as (g) and (h).

SECTION 6. That all other sections of Resolution No. 5608 shall remain in full force
and effect.
SECTION. 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.

foregoing Resolution No. 6020 was passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of
Arcadia, signed by the Mayor and attested to by the City Clerk at a regular meeting of said
Council held on the 3rd day of February, 1998 and that said Resolution was adopted by the
following vote, to wit:
A YES: Councilmember Chang, Kovacic, Kuhn, Young and Harbicht
NOES: None
