HomeMy WebLinkAbout4456 " RESOLUTION NO. 4456 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA ESTABLISHING THE ARCADIA BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the 93rd Congress passed Public Law 93-179, H.R. 7446, on December 11, 1973, which crested the American Revolution Bicentennisl Admini- stration to function as the coordinating center for the nationwide celebration of America's 200th Anniversary; and WHEREAS, all communities have been encouraged to organize local Bicentennisl Commissions in furtherance of the goal of maximum psrticipation; snd WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia should be actively involved in com- memorating the Nation's 200th Anniversary. "" NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. CREATION. There is hereby created and estsblished the Arcadia Bicen'tennial Commi,ssion. SECTION 2. MEMBERSHIP. The Arcadis Bicentennial Commission shall consist of a minimum of twenty (20) members which are representative of sll segments of the' City. Membership in the Commission msy be increased by additional appointments by the City Council. SECTION 3. APPOINTMENTS AND REMOVAL. The City Council shall sppoint a Chairman,. Vice Chairmsn, Secretary, Historisn and other members of the Commission, and may remove such appointees by majority vote of the Council. SECTION 4. . MEETINGS. The Arcadia Bicentennial Commission shall meet at lesst once every six (6) months upon a day, at a time and in a plsce designsted by the' Chairmsn, and st such other times as the Chsirman may deem necessary or advisable. -1- 4456 . SECTION 5. DUTIES. Subject to review snd approval by the City Council, the Arcadia Bicentennial Commission shall plan and execute a Bicentennial program pursuant to the directives and goals of the Americsn Revolution Bicentennisl Administration, having at least one lasting reminder of the special effort the City of Arcadia undertook for the Bicentennial Commemoration, and shsll perform all other scts snd duties necessarily related thereto, including, but not limited to, the filing of the necesssry applications, notification as required, and coordinating activities with other appropriate groups, commissions, persons or bodies. SECTION 6. The Ci.ty Clerk shall certify to the sdoption of this resolution. . I HEREBY.
