NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
As authorized by Arcadia City Charter Secrion 408 and California
Government Code Section 54956, a Special Meeting of the Arcadia City
Council is hereby called to be held at the City of Arcadia Development
Services Conference Room, 240 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia,
California at 6:30 p.m. on April 15, 2003.
At this Special Meeting, the following matters will be discussed,
considered and acted upon:
Meet with Congressman David Dreier for an update on
national issues.
There will be time reserved for those in the audience who wish to
address the City Council regarding the above item.
No further business other than the above will be considered at this
meeting.

SPECIAL MEETING
April 15, 2003
ROLL CALL
As authorized by Arcadia Ciry Charter Section 408 and California Govemment Code Section
54956, a Special Meeting of the Arcadia City Council was calied by Mayor Marshall to be held
on Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the City of Arcadia Development Services Conference Room;
240 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, California, at 6:30.p.m. Said meeting was called for the
purpose of ineeting with United States Congressman David Dreier, 28th District, for an update
on national issues.
PRESENT: Councilmembers Chang, Kovacic, Segal, Wuo and Marshall
ABSENT: None
Others in attendance: United States Congressman, David Drier and Mark Harmsen,
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
None.
UPDATE ON Congressman Dreier expressed gratitude for the extraordinary support that the community o1
NATIONAL Arcadia has provided throughout the years. He noted that he has had the privilege of serving
ISSUES in the United States Congress for twenty-three years; representing twenty plus cities extending
(Corigressman from west of Downtown Los Angeles to San Bernardino, and this is the first time that he has
Dreier) had the opportunity to be present at a reorganization ceremony of a City Council. .
Congressman Dreier highlighted future projects, stating in part that, retrofitting has been a very
high priority. There is a great chance to receive funds to use for a regional multi-use Forest
Service facility by the 210 Freeway. Another high priority is the Gold Line Phase II project and
the expansion of the Alameda Corridor East. He believes that the Gold Line will have a very
positive impact in the community. He will do anything he can to address those issues
important to Arcadia, in Washington.
A discussion of various issues such as economics, war with Iraq and terrorism ensued.
Congressman Dreier felt that after the war, the rebuilding of Iraq will take at least two years.
The goal in a rebuilding effort is to allow the Iraqi people to select their leaders.
