RESOLUTION NO. 5485
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION
FOR VARIOUS POSITIONS WITHIN THE PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT FOR FISCAL YEARS 1989-1990, 1990-1991
AND 1991-1992
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Effecti ve July 2, 1989, the Salary Schedule
shall be improved by.4% for the following classifications:
Assistant Pump Mechanic
Store Keeper
Equipment Operator
Sweeper Operator
General Repairman
Traffic Painter
Maintenance Worker
Tree Trimmer
Public Works Foreman
Water Foreman
Pump Mechanic
Water Service Representative
Pumping Plant Operator
Water System Inspector
SECTION 2.
Effective December 31, 1989, for the classifi-
cations listed in Section 1 above, as well as any additional
posi tions authori zed by the City Council, the Salary Schedule
rate shall be improved by 2%.
SECTION 3.
Effective July 1, 1990, for the classifications
listed in Section 1 above, as well as any additional positions
authorized by the City Council, the Salary Schedule rate shall be
improved by 4%.

for
the
classifications listed in Section 1 above, as well as any
additional positions authorized by the City Council, the Salary
Schedule rate shall be improved by 2%.

SECTION 5. Effective June 30, 1991, for the classifications
listed in Section 1 above, as well as any additional positions
authorized by the City Council, the Salary Schedule rate shall be
improved by 4%.
SECTION 6. Effective December 29, 1991, for the
classifications listed in Section 1 above, as well as any
additional positions authorized by the City Council, the Salary
Schedule rate shall be improved by 3%.
SECTION 7. Effective July 2, 1989, the Equipment Operator
assigned to Tree Crew #181 shall be compensated an additional
$75.00 per month to act as a Leadworker.
SECTION 8. Effective July 2, 1989, for the classifications
listed in Section 1 above, the City shall increase the amount the
City pays toward the monthly health and dental insurance premium
cost of a City health insurance plan by up to $20.00 to each
employee enrolled in a health and dental insurance plan provided
the City's contribution does not exceed the cost for insurance.
Effective July 1, 1990, for the classifications listed in
Section 1 above, as well as any additional positions authorized
by the City Council, the City shall increase the amount the City
pays toward the monthly health and dental insurance premium cost
of a City health insurance plan by up to $20.00 to each employee
enrolled in a health and dental insurance plan provided the
City's contribution does not exceed the cost for insurance.
Effective June 30, 1991, for the classifications listed ~n
Section 1 above, as well as any additional positions authorized
by the City Council, the City shall increase the amount the City

pays toward the monthly health and dental insurance premium cost
of a City health insurance plan by up to $20.00 to each employee
enrolled in a health and dental insurance plan provided the
City's contribution does not exceed the cost for insurance.
If the City's contribution exceeds the cost of employee only
coverage, the difference may be contributed toward the cost of
dependent coverage or paid in cash or to the employee's account
in the City's Deferred Compensation plan, at the employee's
option.
If the premium cost of a health and dental plan exceeds the
City's contribution, the employee shall pay through payroll
deduction the difference between the monthly premium and the
amount contributed by the City.
The employee's exercise of the option to use the difference
toward dependent health coverage or the Deferred Compensation
plan is subject to the conditions controlling enrollment periods
and eligibility established by the respective plans or carriers.
SECTION 9. Effective July 2, 1989, for the classifications
listed in Section 1 above, as well as any additonal positions
authorized by theCi ty Council, the allowable accumulated sick
leave hours shall be raised to 1,280 hours.
Effective July 1, 1990, for the classifications listed in
Section 1 above, as well as any additional positions authorized
by the City Council, the allowable accumulated sick leave hours
shall be raised to 1,300 hours.

SECTION 10. Effective July 2, 1989, for the classifications
listed in Section 1 above, as well as any additional positions
authorized by the City Council, in lieu of a holiday for Martin
Luther King's Birthday, each employee may take one (1) floating
holiday during the fiscal year. Floating holidays shall be used
in the same manner as vacation days at the discretion of the
Department Manager. Floating holidays must be used in the year
they are earned. Should the City Council authorize a holiday for
Martin Luther King's Birthday, then the floating holiday will be
discontinued.
SECTION 11. The salary and benefits set forth herein are
predicated on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by the City and
American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees
(AFL-CIO, Local 2264). At the time of this Resolution, the MOU
is not in final written form. The terms of this Resolution shall
be of no force and effect if the MOU referred to herein is not
signed by July 1, 1989;
SECTION 12. Except as to specific changes set forth in this
Resolution all other benefits provided in prior resolutions shall
remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 13.
That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.
Passed, approved, and adopted this 20th day of June, 1989.

certify that the foregoing Resolution No. 5485 was passed and
adopted by the City Council of the City of Arcadia, signed by the
Mayor and attested to by the City Clerk at a regular meeting of
said Council held on the 20th day of June, 1989, and that said
Resolution was adopted by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Harbicht, Lojeski, Young and Chandler
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Gilb.
