A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING
COMPENSATION FOR THE POSITIONS OF FIRE
CAPTAIN, FIRE ENGINEER, DEPUTY FIRE MARSHAL,
FIREFIGHTER ASSIGNED AS PARAMEDIC, AND
FIREFIGHTER, FOR THE FISCAL YEARS 1988-89,
1989-90 AND 1990-91 (FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Effective July 3, 1988, the Salary Schedule
shall be improved for the following classifications in the amount
specified below:
Fire Captain - 4%
Deputy Fire Marshal - (New classification 2,974 - 3,615) - 4%
Fire Engineer - 3%
Firefighter Assigned as Paramedic - 3%
Firefighter - 3%
July 1, 1989: Fire Captain - 4.5%
Deputy Fir~ Marshal - 4.5%
Fire Engineer - 4.5 %
Firefighter Assigned as Paramedic - 4.5%
Firefighter - 3.5
July 1, 1990: Fire Captain - 4%
Deputy Fire Marshal - 4%
Fire Engineer - 4 %
Firefighter Assigned as Paramedic - 4%
Firefighter - 4%

6ECTION 2. For the classifications listed in Section 1, the
City shall continue to provide as Deferred Compensation a set
dollar amount to be paid toward the employees' comtribution to
the Public Employees Retirement System. Effective July 3, 1988,
the set dollar amount to be paid as Deferred Compensation shall
be an amount equal to 5% of the July 3, 1988 Salary Schedule rate
for each employee. Such dollar amount shall be fixed and shall
not automatically increased due to future salary adjustments
except as follows:
a. to 7% as of July 1, 1989
b. to 9% as of July 1, 1990
SECTION 3. Effective July 3, 1988, for the classifications
listed in Section 1 above, the City shall pay up to $281 per
month toward the health and dental insurance premium cost of the
City's health insurance plan, to each employee enrolled ln the
heal th and dental insurance plan. This shall be increased to
$291 per month effective July 1, 1989 and $306 per month
effective July 1, 1990.
SECTION 4. Third tier survivor benefits pursuant to the
Public Employees Retirement System shall apply to all employees
covered by this Resolution.
SECTION 5. Effective July 3, 1988, for the classifications
listed in Section 1 above, the City shall pay up to $12.60 per
month toward the employee coverage of the disability lncome
insurance plan. Effective July 1, 1989, this shall be $13.60 per
month and $14.60 per month on July 1, 1990.

SECTION 6.
The salary and benefits set forth herein are
predicated on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by the City and
the Arcadia Firefighter Association.
At the time of this
Resolution, the MOU is not In final written form.
The terms of
this Resolution shall be of no force and effect if the MOU
referred to herein is not signed by July 31, 1988.
SECTION 7. Except as to specific changes set forth in this
Resolution all other benefits provided in Resolution No. 5236
shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution.
