RESOLUTION NO. 5433
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING PARK REGULATIONS
FOR THE USE OF TENNIS COURTS
WHEREAS, Section 4410.3 of the Arcadia Municipal Code
provides that the violation of any regulations adopted by
Resolution of the City Council shall constitute a violation of
the Arcadia Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Parks Director has reported various
problems concerning activity on City Tennis Courts including the
playing of field hockey on the courts; and
WHEREAS, this activity is causing damage to the surface of
said tennis courts.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The following rules and regulations are hereby
adopted pursuant to Arcadia Municipal Code Section 4422.3:
Tennis Court Rules and Regulations:
1. City or School District Tennis Programs have priority
over all other Tennis Court use.
2. Courts are available on a first-come, first-served
basis, at all times regardless of age of participants.
3. Only persons wearing tennis shoes or similar soft soled
athletic type shoes shall be allowed on the Tennis Courts.
Street shoes of any type are not allowed.
4. When others are waiting and no other courts are
available:

a. One (1) set of singles or two (2) sets of doubles
may be played.
b. Sets resulting ln six (6) all shall be determined
by one additional game.
c. Players who do not wish to playa set may, instead,
rally for thirty (30) minutes, after which the court must be
relinquished.
d. Waiting persons must remain ln person at the court
desired.
e. Warming up for matches shall not exceed five (5)
minutes.
f. Individual practice is not permitted.
5. Bicycles, skateboards or roller skates are not permitted
on the courts. (Ordinance No. 1572)
6. Pets are not permitted at any time on the courts.
7. Unauthorized professional instruction prohibited.
8. A maximum of six (6) balls may be used on anyone court
except for Department approved tennis lessons.
9. No sticks or other objects that are capable or marring,
gouging or damaging the courts are allowed including but not
limited to hockey sticks, bats or sharp objects.
10. Removal or tampering with nets is not allowed.
11. Tennis courts shall not be used or in any utilized for
purposes other than for what the courts are designed, i.e.,
tennis, without written permission from the Director of
Recreation.

SECTION 2.
That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.

hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution No. 5433 was passed
and adopted by the City Council of the City of Arcadia signed by
the Mayor and attested to by the City Clerk at a regular meeting
of said Council held on the 16th day of August, 1988, and that
said Resolution was adopted by the following vote, to wit:
