HomeMy WebLinkAbout1605 RESOLUTION NO. 1605 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA REQUESTING PARTICIPATION BY THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BRIDGE ACROSS THE SANTA ANITA WASH ON COLORADO BOULEVARD IN SAID CITY AND A CONTRIBUTION BY SAID COUNTY TOWARDS THE COST OF SUCH BRIDGE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 1564 of the City Council of th e City of Arcadia, adopted January 21, 1947, it was requested that the County of Los Angeles participate with the City of Arcadia in the construction of a bridge over Santa Anita Wash on Colorado Boulevard in said City, on the ground that said Colorado Boulevard is a major highway extending approximately fifteen miles from Glendale to Monrovia, that said boulevard is a main highway passing through the business districts of Pasadena and Monrovia, that said boulevard is often impassable and requires the expenditure by the City of Arcadia of considerable money each year because of the accumulation of debris resulting from the sluicing of the dam above Foothill Boulevard; and WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia is agreeable to preparing necessary plans and specifications, at the expense of the City, for said bridge, such plans to be approved by the Road Department of the County and the County Flood Control District: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles be, and they are hereby, requested to contribute towards the cost of construction of a bridge over Santa Anita Wash 0 n Colorado Boulevard aforesaid the sum of Thirty-five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00), the balance of the cost of such bridge to be assumed and paid by the City of Arcadia. ,"~o ,,,Q'O" . SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
