HomeMy WebLinkAbout1670 RESOLUTION NO. 1670 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIIE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO SELL CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY OW1lED BY SAID CITY AND FIXING THE TERMS OF SAID SALE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: \VHEREAS, the City of Arcadia recently acquired a site of approximately thirteen acres on Huntington Drive for use in the construction of a new civic center and plans are now being formulated for a new City Hall building thereon to house the several departments now utilizing the existing City Hall structure situated at the intersection of First Avenue and Huntington Drive in said City, and WHEREAS, in the opinion of this Council it is proper and for the best interests of the City of Arcadia that the present City Hall building and site, together with eight lots on the corner of Santa Anita Avenue and Wheeler Street, owned by the City of ~rcadia, be disposed of and soldr, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: SECTION 1. That Ithe present City Hall building and site, .> loc ated at the corner of First ~venue and Huntington Drive, in the City of Arcadia and being those parcels of land known as Lots 14, 15, 16 and 17 of Block 74, Arcadia Santa Anita Tract, as per map recorded in Book 15, page 89 of Maps, records in the office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County, except that parcel of land vacated by the provisions of Ordinance No. 231 of the City of Arcadia, together with eight lots owned by the City of Arcadia upon the east side of Santa Anita Avenue and the south side of Wheeler Street, and being Lots 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33 and 34 of Block 74, Arcadia Santa Anita Tract, as Per map recorded in Book 15, page 89 of Maps, records in the .office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County, be forthwith \t'lt)~'C.O offered for sale to the highest, responsible bidder, subject to the following conditions: (a) The City Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to prepare and pubmish twice in newspapers of general circulation in the cities of Los Angeles and Arcadia a suitable advertisement calling for sealed bids for the purchase of the whole of the said properties for cash, such advertisel11ent to include a provision -rt for minimum proposal or offer of Eighty Thousand Dollars ($80.000.00) and a deposit in cash or by surety bond of ten v ,.- .~ (10%) per cent of the amount of such bid or proposal; (b) The bids or proposal shall be opened July 1, 1947, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. at the Council Chamber in the City Hall at the City of Arcadia; (c) The sale of the real property comprising eight lots situate on Wheeler Street and Santa Anita Avenue shall be subject to a restriction providing. for the exclusive use of said property for public parking for a period of twenty-five years from the date of delivery of the deed therefor by the City and said deed 0/ shall embody such restrictive covenant; (d) The City of Arcadia reserves the right to use the present City Hall premises without cost for a minimum period of twelve months from the date of the close of escrow concerning said sale and to use the said premises for such further period as may be agreed upon between the City and the purchaser by paying as rent for such further period a sum equal to six per cent per annum of the purchase price; (e) The City of Arcadia reserves the right to retain the possession and use of Lot 26 aforesaid, being the most easterly of the aforementioned lots on Wheeler street for a period not -2- .' ,,,u0" exceeding three years from the date of the sale thereof, for municipal or public purposes. (f) None of the aforesaid properties shall be sold separately. (g) The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids. ~ SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the 17th day o~ June, 1947, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Adcock, Ormsby and Russell NOES: None ABSENT: Councilmen Leeper and Nugent City Clerk of the City of Arcadia SIGNED ANn APPROVED this 17th day of June, 1947.
