HomeMy WebLinkAbout1671 fYl j{" RESOLUTION NO. 1671 A RESOLUTION OF THF~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, AME1~ING RESOLUTION NO. 1492 RELATING TO THE APPO INTMENT OF A CITY ATTORNEY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia has planned an extensive survey of the problems affecting said city relating to a comprehensive, long- term, general plan for the physical development of the city and for the most desirable utilization of the land therein, and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Plan- ning Act, of the State of California (Stats. 1929, P 1805, as amendedQ the City is authorized in the making of its annual tax levy and as a part thereof to levy and collect a tax, not to exceed in any fiscal year the sum of two mills on the dollar of assessed valuation, for he purpose of defraying the lawful expenses incurred in carrying out the purposes of such act, and WHEREAS, the City Council contemplates the levy and collection of a special tax of one-half a mill on the dollar of assessed valuation pursuant to said Act, and WHEREAS, the extended program of the Planning Commission will require extensive services of the City Attorney, not contemplated by the City Council at the time of his employment and the fixing of the compensation for his services as City Attorney as prescribed in Resolution No. 1492, adopted on July 16, 1946, and WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of provid- ing additional compensation to said City Attorney for such added duties to be imposed upon him and of segregating the .-.<(ill ,,,u.... compensation to be paid to the City Attorney'in order that the proper amount thereof payable to him for services rendered to the Planning Commission may be chargeable against and paid from the proceeds from such special levy: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Section 1 of Resolution No. 1492 adopted on July 16, 1946, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1. That T. Guy Cornyn be and he is here- by appointed to the position of City Attorney and that he be paid a salary of $450.00 per month as compensation for all services rendered by him as City Attorney excepting services rendered to the Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia, and that he be paid the additional sum of $125.00 per month, for all services rendered by him as City Attorney to the Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia, effective July 1, 1947, and that such amount be chargeable against and payable from the proceeds of such special levies as are made by the City upon the taxable property within the City pur- suant to "The Planning Act" of 1929 for the purpose of defraying the lawful expenses of the Planning Commission in carrying out the purposes of said Act or from such other funds as the City Council may appropriate for the carrying on of such work. That said T. Guy Cornyn be and he is hereby re- quired to devote such time to the duties of City Attorney as may be necessary or required by the -2- ,>1-,,0 ,.' City Council. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
