RESOLUTION NO. 1682
,
A RESOLUTION OF ~'HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIF-
ORNIA, AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN WORK AND IMPROVEMENT TO BE DONE
ON PORTIONS OF HUNTINGTON DRIVE IN THE SAID CITY OF ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:.
SECTION 1. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia
did in open session at its regular meeting on July 1, 1947-, publicly
open, examine and declare all sealed proposals or bids for doing
certain work and iMprovement on portions of Huntington Drive in the
City of Arcadia; that Resolution of Intention No. 1618. heretofore
adopted by this Council on the 1st day oft April, 1947, contains a
complete description of said work and improvement and reference is
hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 1618 for a complete,
description of said work and improvement.
SECTION 2. That the grade to which the work hereinabove des-
cribed shall be done and the improvement made as provided in this
Resolution is shown on Profile and ImproveMent Plan No. C-172 on file
in the office of the City Engineer of said City. to which Profile
reference is hereby made for the description of such grade.
SECTION 3. All'of the foregoing work shall be done in accordance
with said Profile and IMprovement Plan No~ C-l?2, on file in the office
of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia.
All work on the construction of said ornamental street lighting
system shall be in accordance with the following specifications on file
in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia, to wit:,
lI'Special Specifications No.2 for the installation of lighting posts.
wires, cables and other appurtenances on Huntington Drive between Sec.bnd
Avenue and Fifth Avenue."
All work on the construction and reconstruction of cement concrete
shall be in accordance with the following specifications on file in the
office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia, to wit: "Standardl
Specifications No. 0 for the construction of curbs, sidewalks, gutters,

oil macadam and concrete pavement."
All work on the construction and reconstruction of street
pavement shall be in accordance with the following specific.ationSl on
file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia, to wit:,
"Standard Specifications No. 00 for the construction of asphaltic.
concrete pavement".
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-172 and the Specifica-
tions hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution No. 1616 of
said City Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same are hereby made
a part of this Resolution and are hereby referred to for a More par-
ticular description of said work. All streets and avenues referred to
in this Resolution are pdb~ic'streets and avenues of said City o~
Arcadia.
SECTION 4. That said conteMplated work and improvement in the
opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia is of More than
local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby makes,
the expense of said work and improvement chargeable upon the District,
Which District said City Council hereby declares to be the District
benefited by said work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the
costs and expenses thereof and Which said District is completely
described in Resolution No. 1617 of the City Council of the City oil.
Arcadia, heretofore adopted by this Council on April 1, 194~, and to;
which Resolution reference is hereby made for a complete description
of said District to be assessed to pay the cost and expense of said
work and improvement.
SECTION 5. Said City Council also determines and declares that
Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of Twenty-
Five ($25.00) Dollars, or more, remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days'
after the date of the Warrant to represent the expenses of said work
and improvement. Said Serial Bond$ shall extend over a period ending
nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding the
next October 15th following their date and an even annua1~roportion
of the princip~l SUM thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second,

day of January of each year, following the next October 15th
after their date, until the whole is paid, and the interest
shall be payable semi-annually by coupon on the second days!
of January and July respectively of each year after their date
at the rate of six (6%) per annum on all sums unpaid until the
whole of said principal and interest are paid. Said Bonds. and:
interest thereon shall be payable at the office of the City
Treasurer of the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 6. All of the proceedings for the aforesaid work
and improvement and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had
and taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an Act
of the Legislature of the State of California, known and designated
as the "IMprovement Act of 1911, being Division 7, Streets and!
Highways Code of the State of California".
ReferencB is hereby made to Resolution of Intention No. l6l8~
of said City Council, declaring its intention to order said work-to
be done, for further particulars. which Resolution of Intention is.
on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED, that said City Council hereby
rejects all of said proposals or bids except the next herein Mentioned
and hereby awards the contract for doing said work and improvement
to the lowest, regular, responsible bidder therefor, to wit:,
To:- STATE CONSTRUCTION CO. at the price mentioned in its proposal
on file for said work and improvement, namely: ELEVEN THOUSAND NINE
HUNDRED FORTY-TWO DOLLARS, ($11942.00).
The City Clerk is hereby directed to publiSh notice of this
award twice in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper
of general circulation, published and circulated in the City oft.
Arcadia, and hereby designated for that purpose by said City Council.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at

on the 15th day of July, 1947, by the affirmative vote of at least
three Councilmen, to wit:.
