RESOLUTION NO. 1683
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA.
CALIFORNIA, URGING THE COOPERATION OF THE CITIZENS OF
ARCADIA IN THE CAUSE OF THE PROPOSED MEMORIAL CANCER HOSPITAL.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Cancer Prevention Society, a non-profit
organization. has undertaken a campaign to raise $2.000.000.00
for the Los Angeles Memorial Cancer Hospital, and
WHEREAS, such hospital will serve the needs of the entire
West in the Most iMportant work of research and specialized
treatment of cancer, Which disease is now responsible for' one
out of every eight deaths;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Arcadia
hereby records its approval of the campaign noW being under-
taken to raise fUnds for the establishment of the MeMorial
Cancer Hospital, and enlists the whole-hearted cooperation of
the citizens of this city to the end that this campaign may en-
joy the success it deserves.
That the City Clerk be, and he is hereby instructed to
attest to the adoption of this resolution, and to tranSMit a
copy thereof to MiChael D. Fanning. Campaign Director, The
Cancer Prevention Society, 2628 West Eighth Street, Los Angeles.

SECTION I. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City ot
Arcadia, held on the lith day of July. 1947, by the affirmative
vote of at least three Councilmen, towit:
AYES: Councilmen Adcock, Russell, OrMsby
NOES: None
ABSENT: CouncilMen Leeper, Nugent.
