RESOLUTION NO. 1698.-
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY mUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
ORDERING THE PUBLICATION OF A NOTICE INVITING BIDS FOR
THE SALE OF THE CITY HALL BUILDING AND SITE AT PUBLIC
AUCTION, FIXING A MINIMUM BID, AND FIXING THE TIME AND

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOi'lS :
vIHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Resolution No. 1&97:
adopted on the i9th day of August r , 1947" the City Council of

the City of Arcadia found and declared that the public interest
and convenience requires that its public building, known as the
City Hall, and the site thereof hereinafter More particularly
described, be disposed of and conveyed; and
WHEREAS, in said resolution the City Council did fix the
time and place for hearing objections thereto and did fix the
time when final action will be taken thereon; and
WHEREAS, in the event no protests are received or in the
event the City Council overrules such protests or objections by a
four-fifths vote of the members thereof, the Council may desire
to proc eed with such sale; and
VlliEREAS, in the event the City Council determines that it
should proceed with such sale, it desires that such sale be han-
dled through a public auction by the City Council of such property
and the sale thereof to the highest bidder for cash,
NOW, THEREFCRE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLa-IS:
Section 1. The City Council hereby finds that the public
interest and convenience requires that the public building O1med
by the City of Arcadia and known as the City Hall and the site
thereof hereinafter described, be sold at public auction by the

City Council for cash to the highest bidder, in the event that
the City Council shall take final action to dispose of such
property pursuant to t he provisions of Resolution No. 1697. ,

hereinabove referred to. Said property is hereby described as
follows:
Lots 14 to 17 inclusive, Lots 25 to 31 inclusive,
and Lots 33 and 34, in Block 74 of Arcadia Santa
Anita Tract in the City of Arcadia, County of Los
Angeles, State of California, as per map recorded
in Book 15, Pages 89 and 90 of Miscellaneous
Records of the County Recorder of said County;
Except the northerly ten (10) feet of said Lots
14 and 17 included wi thin the alley vacated by
Ordinance 231, adopted by the City Council of the
City of Arcadia on th e 4th day ofDecembelj'1929, and

Except froM said Lot 14, tile westerly eight (8)
feet thereof, and
Subject to the easement for street purposes over the
easterly ten (10) feet of said Lots 15, 16 and 17
and over the southerly twenty (20) feet of said Lots
14 and 15.
Section 2. The City Council hereby declares that the
Minimum bid which it \rill consider for said property is the sum
of Eighty Thousand Dollars ($80,000.00) cash net to the City.
Section 3. Said property is to be sold subject to. the
right of the City to fully occupy and use the said City Hall
building for the period of one year after the close of escrow
without rent and subject to the further right 'of the City to
fully occupy and use that certain building located on Lot 26 of
said Block for American Red Cross and Veterans' Service Center
activities or other purposes for the period of one year froM the
close of escrow, without rent.
Section 4. The City Council hereby reserves the right
to reject any or all bids received.
Section 5. Sealed bids will be received in the office
of the City Clerk in the City Hall up to the hour of five o'clock
p.m., on the 2hd
day of SepteMbeJ;' 1947. They will be opened

and publicly declared follo1rring the holding of the hearing
called for in R.esolution NO.1697, hereinabove referred to, in
the event that the City Council shall take final action to dis-
pose of such property. In the event such action is not taken,
the bids will be returned unopened to the bidders. Bids Must
,
be accompani ed by a certified check or cashier I s check in the
amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), drawn on a respon-
sible bank in the County of Los Angeles, made payable to the
City, as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into an escrow
agreement for the purchase of said property in the event that
his bid is accepted.
Section 6.
The City Clerk shall cause a notice
inviting bids to be published at least once prior to the date
fixed for the holding of said hearing hereinabove referred to,

circulated in the City of Arcadia.
Section 7.

The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption

adopted at a regular Meeting of the City Council of
the City of Arcadia, held on the 19th day of August. )
