RESOLUTION NO. 1,0~.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN WORK
AND IMPROVEMENT TO BE DONE ON PORTIONS OF HUNTINGTON
DRIVE AND FIRST AVENUE, IN THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of
Arcadia did in open session at its regular meetihg on
August 6, 1946, publicly open, examine and declare all
sealed"proposals or bids for' doing certain work' 'and .im-
provement on portions of Huntington Drive and First Avenue

, ~ SECTION 2. THAT the grade to which the wor)l: herein-
above described shall be done and the improyement made,as
proyiqeq ;in this Resolution is shown on Profile andll!l~, ,.
provement Plan No. C-170, on file in the office of the City
Engineer of said City, to which Profile reference is hereby
made for the description of such grade.
SECTION 3. All of the foregoing work shall be done
in accordance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-
170, on file in the ottf4e of the City Engineer of said City
of Arcadia.
All work on the construction of said
ornamental street lighting system shall be in accordance
with the following specifications on file in the office of
the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia, to wit: "Special

Specifications No.1 for the installation of lighting posts,
wires, cables and other appurtenances on Huntington Drive
between Santa Anita Avenue and Second Avenue, and on First
Avenue between Diamond Street and St. Joseph Street".
All work on the construction and reconstruction of
cement concrete shall be in accordance with the following
specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk of
said City of Arcadia, to wit: "Standard Specifications No. 0
for the construction of curbs, sidewalks, gutters, oil
macadam and concrete pavement".
All work on the construction and reconstruction of
street pavement shall be in accordance with the following
specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk of
said City of Arcadia, to wit: "Standard Specifications
No. 00 for the construction of asphaltic concrete pavement".
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-170 and the
Specifications hereinabove referred to were adopted by
Resolution No. 1477 of said City Council of the City of
Arcadia, and the same are hereby made a part of this
Resolution and are hereby referred to for a more particular
description of said work. All streets and avenues referred
to in this Resolution are public streets and avenues of said
City of Arcadia.
SECTION 4. Said City Council hereby determines and
orders that Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($7500.00)
representing a portion of the cost and expense of the con-
struction of the proposed ornamental street lighting system
on said portions of said pUblic streets, as hereinabove
specified, shall be paid out of the general fund of the City
of Arcadia.

SECTION 5. That said contemplated work and improvement in
the opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia is of more
than local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby
makes the expense of said work and improvement chargeable upon the
District (except that portion of the cost of construction to be
paid for by the City of Arcadia as soecified herein) which District
said City Council hereby declares to be the District benefitted by
said work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the costs and
expenses thereof and which said District is completely described
in Resolution No. 1478 of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
heretofore adopted by this Council on June 18, 1946, and to which
Resolution reference is hereby made for a complete description of
said District to be assessed to pay the cost and expense of said

work and improvement.
SECTION 6. Said City Council also determines and declares
that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of
Twenty Five ($2,.00) Dollars, or,mo~a, remaining unpaid for thirty
(30) days after the date of the warrant to represent the expense of
said work and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall extend over a

period ending nine (9) years from the second day of January next
succeeding the fifteenth day of next October following their date
and an even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall
be payable by coupon on the second day of January, every year after
the fifteenth day of the next October following their date, until the
whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi-annually by
coupon on the second days of January and July respectively of each
year after their date at the rate of six per cent (6~) per annum on
all sums unpaid until the who~e of said principal and interest are
paid. Said Bonds and interest thereon shall be payable at the
office of the City Treasurer of the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 7. All of the proceedings for the af&resaid work and

improvement and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had and
taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the
Legislature of the state of California, known and designated as
the "Improvement Act of 1911, being Division 7, Streets a~ High-
ways Cdde of the State of California".
Reference is hereby made to Resolution of Intention No.
1479, of said City Council, dec+aring its intention to order said
work to be done, for further particulars, which Resolution of
Intention is on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City
of Arcadia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE' IT RESOLVED, that said City Council
hereby rejects all of said proposals or bids except the next
herein mentioned and hereby awards the contract for doing said
work and improvement to the lowest, regular, responsible bidder
therefor, to wit:
To: STATE CONSTRUCTION CO.
at the price mentioned in its proposal on file for said work and
improvement, namely: THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS
($35,300.00) .
The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of this
Award twice in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper
of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of
Arcadia, and hereby designated for that purpose by said City Council.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at
a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 20th day of August, 1946, by the affirmative vote of at least
three Councilmen, to wit:
