RESOLUTION NO. 1564
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
REQUESTING PARTICIPATION BY THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A BRIDGE ACROSS THE SANTA ANITA WASH ON
COLORADO BOULEVARD IN SAID CITY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. WHEREAS, Colorado Boulevard is a major high-
way extending from San Fernando Boulevard in Glendale to
Huntington Drive in Monrovia, a distance of approximately
fifteen miles, and
WHEREAS, said Colorado Boulevard is a main
highway passing through the business districts of Pasadena
and Monrovia, and
WHEREAS, said Colorado Boulevard crosses the
Santa Anita Wash in the City of Arcadia, which said wash
carries a large amount of sand, rock and debris which is
deposited on said boulevard thereby making said boulevard
impassable during the rainy months of the year and during the
times when the dam above Foothill Boulevard is being sluiced,
as a result of which it becomes necessary iroftraffic on said
Colorado Boulevard to be detoured for a considerable distance,
and,
WHEREAS, apart from the inconvenience caused
to the residents of the City of Arcadia and others, it has
been necessary for the City of Arcadia to expend each year a
considerable sum of money in removing silt and debris on said
Colorado Boulevard, a portion of which is deposited thereon as
a direct result of sluicing and said debris from the Santa Anita
Dam by the Los Angeles County Flood Control:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board
of Supervisors of fue County of Los Angeles be, and they are

hereby, requested to participate with the City of Arcadia
in the construction of a bridge over said Santa Anita Wash
on Colorado Boulevard aforesaid and that for this purpose
the Road Department of the County of Los Angeles be
authorized and instructed to prepare appropriate plans and
specifications therefor and an estimate of the cost of
construction thereof together with a plan for the financing
of the cost of said bridge.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Arcadia held on the 21st day of January, 1947, by
the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Adcock, Leeper, Nugent, Ormsby and Russell
