RESOLUTION NO. 1588
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO A1~mX CERTAIN UNINHABITED
TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF ARCADIA, GIVING NOTICE OF THE
PROPOSED ANNEXATION AND DESCRIBING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE
TERRITORY PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited
Territory Act of 1939" there has been filed with this Council the
verified Petition dated January 30, 1947, signed by Benjamin
Clayton and Julia S. Clayton requesting that certain uninhabited
territory in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, be
annexed to the City of Arcadia, and reouesting that the City
Council pass a Resolution giving notice of such proposed annexation,
~~REAS, it appears from said Petition that the petition-
ers are the owners of the whole of the area of the land sought
to be so annexed, and that said petitioners represent the whole
of the assessed value of the said land according to the last pre-
ceding assessment roll of said County of Los Angeles, and
'NHEP~AS, said territory comprises certain parcels of
land bounded on the east by certain property in the City of Arcadia
adjoining Baldwin Avenue and on the north by certain property in the
City of Arcadia adjoining Duarte Road, and more particularly des-
cribed as fOllOWS, to wit:
Lots 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21
of Tract 6925, as per map recorded in
Book 74, Page 79, of Maps, in the office
of the County Recorder of Los Angeles
County, ,
and,
The East 115 feet of Lot 4 of Santa Anita
Land Company's Pumping Plant No.1 Tract,
as per map recorded in Book 10, Page 183,
of Maps, in the office of the County
Recorder of said County,
owned by Petitioner Benjamin Clayton, and
Lots 5, 6, 7, 10 and 13 of Tract 6925, as
per map recorded in Book 74, Page 79, of
Maps, in the office of the County Recorder
of Los Angeles County,
owned by Petitioner Julia S. Clayton;

VlliEREAS, said Detition is signed by the owners of
,not less than one-fourth of the area of the land in such ter-
ritory and representing not less than one-fourth of the as-
sessed value of such territory according to the last preceding
equalized assessment roll of the County of Los Angeles, State
of California, in which such territory is situated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the "Annexation of Un-
inhabited Territory Act of 1939" this City Council hereby gives
notice of said orooosed annexation of said uninhabited territory,
described herein, to the City of ArcaDia.
SECTION 2. Said territory is hereby designated for
identification as "West Arcadia Annex."
SECTION 3. The City Council hereby gives notice of
and fixes the 18th day of March, 1947, at 8:00 o'clock, P.M.
of said day, in the Council Chamber in the City Hall of the City
of Arcadia, as the day, hour and place when and where any and
all persons owning any real property within said territory so
proposed to be annexed, and having any objections to the pro-
posed annexation may appear before said City Council and show
cause why said territory should not be so annexed to the City
of Arcadia.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the anopt-
ion of this Resolution, and shall cause the same to be published
once a week for two successive weeks prior to said hearing on
March 18, 1947, in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcac1ia News, a news-
paper of g~neral circulation, published and circulated in the City
of Arcadia, and hereby designatec1 for that purpose.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a rep,ular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 18th day of February, 1947, by the affirmative vote
of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
