RESOLUTION NO. 1409.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN WORK AND DiPROVEMENT ON A PORTION OF
LAS FLORES AVENUE IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of
Arcadia, did, in open session at its regular meeting on August 7,
1945, publioly open, examine and declare all sealed proposals or
bids for doing certain work and improvement on a porti9n of Las
Flores Avenue in the City of Arcadia; that Resolution of Intention
No. 1384, heretofore adopted by this Council on the 19th day of
June, 1945, contains a complete description of said work and improve-
ment and reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention
No. 1384 for a complete description of said work and improvement.
SECTION 2. That the grade to which the work hereinabove
referred to shall be done and the improvement made as provided in
this Resolution is shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-165 on
file in the office of the City Engineer of said City, to which Profile
reference is pereby made for the description of such grade.
SECTION 3. All of the foregoing work shall be done in
accordance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-165 on file
in the office elf the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia.
All work on grading and the construction of concrete curbs
and gutters shall be in accordance with the following Specifications
on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Aroadia, to wit,
"Standard Specifications No. 0 for the construction of Curbs, sidewalks,
gutters, oil macadam pavement and concrete pavement."
All work on the construction of oil macadam pavement shall
be in accordance with the following specifications on file in the office
of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia, to wit, "City of Arcadia
Standard Specifications No. 3 for the construction of 2-1/4 inch Oil
Macadam Pavement and Resurfacing."
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-165 and the
Specifications hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution

No. 1382 of sa.1d City Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same
are hereby mad.e a part of this Resolution and are hereby referred to
for a more particular description of said work. All streets and
avenues referred to in this Resolution are public streets and avenues
in said City of Arcadia.
SECTION 4. Said City Council hereby determines and orders
that Eight Hundred Seventy Five ($875.00) Dollars, representing a
portion of the cost and expense of construction of oil macadam pave-
ment and concrete gutters on said portion of said public street, as
hereinabove specified, shall be paid out of gasoline tax funds to be
allocated to the City of Arcadia by the County of Los Angeles.
SECTION 5. That said contemplated work and improvement
in the opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is of more
than local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby
makes the expense of said work and improvement chargeable upon the
District, (except that portion of the cost of construction to be paid
for by the City of Arcadia from gasoline tax funds as specified herein)
which District said City Council hereby declares to be the District
benefited by flaid work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the
costs and expE1nses thereof. A plat or map 01' said District indicating
by a boundary line the extent of the lands included in said Distriot
was approved and adopted by Resolution No. 1383 of the City of Arcadia
on the 19th day 01' June, 1945, and is on file in the office 01' the
City Engineer of the City of Arcadia; reterence is hereby made to said
plat or map for a complete description 01' said District to be assessed
to pay the coats and expense of said work and improvement.
SECTION 6. Said City Council also determines and declares
that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of
Twenty-Five ($25.00) Dollars, or more, remaining unpaid tor thirtr,y
(30) days after the date of the Warrant to represent the expenses of
said work and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall extend over a
period ending nine (9) years from the second day of January next
succeeding the fifteenth day 01' the next October following their date
and an even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be

payable by coupon on the second day of January, every year after the
fifteenth day of the next October following their date, until the
whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi-annually by
coupon on the second days of January and July respectively of eacb
year after their date at the rate of six (6%) per cent per annum on
all sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and interest are
paid. Said Bonds and interest thereon shall be payable at the office
of the City Treasurer of the City of Arcadia.
~CTION 7. All proceedings for the aforesaid work and
improvement and for the t.s suance of said Bonds shall be had and taken
under and in accordance with the prOVisions of an Act of the Legis-
lature of the State of California, known and designated as the
"Improvement Act of 1911", .being Division 7, Streets and Highways
Code of the State of California.
Reference is hereby made to Resolution of Intention
No. 1384 of said City Council, declaring its intention to order said
work to be dono for further particulars, which Resolution of Inten-
tion is on file in the offiCe of the City Clerk of said City of
Arcadia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RSSOLVED, that said City Council
hereby rejects all of said proposals or bids except the next herein
mentioned and hereby awards the oontract for doing said work and
improvement to the lowest, regular, responsibl$ bidder therefor,
to wit, VIDO KOVACEVICH CO., a co-partnershi" 5300 Imperial Highway,
South Gate, California, at the prices mentioned in their proposal
on file for said work and improvement.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to pUblish notioe of
this award twice in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper
of general circulation, published and circulated in the City ot
Arcadia, and hereby designated for that purpose by said City Council.
The City Clerk shall oertify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
I hereby tertify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted

at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 21st day of August, 1945, by the affirmative vote of
at least three Councilmen, to wit:
