RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1350.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO IMPROVE A PORTION OF LONGDEN AVENUE IN
SAID CITY OF ARCADIA, AND DECLARING SAID WORK OR IMPROVEMENT TO BE OF
MORE THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT AND DESCRIBING THE DISTRICT
TO BE BENEFITED BY SAID \'l)RK OR llAPROVEMENT AND TO BE ASSESSED TO PAY
THE COSTS AND EXPENSES THEREOF, AND DETERMINING THAT SERIAL BONDS SHALL
BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT SAID COSTS AND EXPENSES AND FIXING A TI1lli FOR
HEARING OBJECTIONS TO SAID WORK OR IMPROVEMENT, OR TO THE EXTENT OF THE
DISTRICT TO BE ASSESSED, OR BOTH.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience require,
and it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, to
order the following work and improvement to be done in said City of
Arcadia, to-wit:
That a concrete curb be constructed on each side of Longden
Avenue from the Easterly line of Baldwin Avenue to the Westerly-line
of Holly Avenue, including curb returns at El Sereno Drive and at Holly
Avenue.
SECTION 2. That the grade to which the work hereinabove
described shall be done and the improvement made as provided in this
Resolution is sbown on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-168 on file in
the office of tbe City Engineer of said City, to which Profile reference
is hereby made for the description of such grade.
SECTION 3. All of the foregoing work shall be done in accord-
ance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-168 on file in the
office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia.
,All work on grading and the construction of concrete curbs
shall be in accordance with the following Specifications on file in the
office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia, to-wit, "Standard
Specifications No. 0 for the construction of curbs, sidewalks, gutters,
Oil Macadam pavement and concre te pavement."
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-168 and the Specifications
hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution No. 1548 of said City
Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same are hereby made a part of
this Resolution and are hereby referred to for a more particular descrip-
tion of said work. All streets and avenues referred to in this Resolution
are public streets and avenues of said City of Arcadia.

SECTION 4. That said contemplated work and improvement in the
opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is of more than
local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby makes the
expense of said ,work and improvement chargeable upon the District, which
District said City Council hereby declares to be the District benefited
by said work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the costs and
expenses thereof, which said District shall include all those lots in
the said City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California,
fronting on and adjacent to Longden Avenue between Baldwin Avenue and
Holly Avenue.
A plat or map of said District indicating by a boundary line the
extent of the lands included in the proposed Assessment District, was
approved and adopted by Resolution No. 1349 of the City Council of said
City of Arcadia, and is on file in the office of the City Engineer of
the City of Arcadia. Reference is hereby made to said plat or map for
a further, full and complete description of said Assessment Di~trict,
which said plat or map is designated as Assessment District No. W-40,
and said map so on file shall govern for all details as to the extent
of such Assessment District.
SECTION 5. Said City Council also determines and declares
that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of
Twenty-Five ($25.00) Dollars, or more, remaining unpaid for thirty (30)
days after the date of the Warrant to represent the expenses of said
work and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall extend over a period
ending nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding
the fifteenth day of the next October following their date and an even
annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon
on the second day of January, every year after the fifteenth day of the
next October following their date, until the whole is paid, and the
interest shall be payable semi-annually byroupon on the second days of
January and July respectively of each year after their date at the rate
of six (6%) per cent per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of said
principal and interest are paid. Said Bonds and interest thereon shall
be payable at the office of the City Treasurer of the City of Arcadia.

SECTION 6. Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, the 6th
day of February, 1945, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock, P.M., on said day,
in the Court Room at the Police Station of said City of Arcadia, any
and all persons having any objections to said proposed work or improve-
ment or to the extent of the District to be assessed, ,or both, may
appaar before said City Council and show cause why said proposed work
or improvement should not be carried out in accordance with this
Resolution.
SECTION 7. All proceedings for the aforesaid work and improve-
ment and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had and taken under and
in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of the
State of California, known and designated as the "Improvement Act of
1911".
SECTION 8. The report of the City Engineer, as required to be
made by the provisions of the Special Assessment, Investigation, Limi-
tation and Majority Protest Act of 1931, and the report on the hearing
required to be held as provided in said Act, are on file in the office
of the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia, are open to public inspection,
and maY,be examined at his office in the City Hall of the City of
Arcadia.
SECTION 9. The Superintendent of Streets shall post or cause
to be posted conspiciously along the line of said contemplated work or
improvement and also along all the open streets within the District
liable to' be assessed and hereinabove described, notices of the passage
of this Resolution in the manner and form required by law.
SECTION 10. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and shall cause the same to be published twice in the Arcadia
Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation, published
and circulated in the City of Arcadia and hereby designated for that
purpose; the City Clerk shall also mail notice of the adoption of this
Resolution to all persons owning real property proposed to be assessed,
whose names and addresses appear on the last equalized assessment r611
for City taxes, or as known to said Clerk. Such notice shall be given
in the manne};> and form required by said "Improvement Act of 1911".

The foregoing Resolution of Intention was adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on
the 16th day of January, 1945, by the affirmative vote of at least
three Councilmen, to-wit:
