RESOLUTION NO. 1364.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AWARDING CONTRACT FOR
CERTAIN WORK AND IMPROVEMENT ON A PORTION OF LONGDEN AVENUE IN SAID
CITY OF ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia
did in open session at its regular meeting on February 20, 1945,
publicly open, examine and declare all sealed proposals or bids for
doing certain work and improvement on a portion of Longden Avenue in
the City of Arcadia; that Resolution of Intention No. 1350, heretofore

adopted by this Council on the 16th day of January, 1945, contains
a complete description of said work and improvement and reference is
hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 1350 for a complete
description of said work and improvement.
SECTION 2. That the grade to which the work hereinabove
referred to shall be done and the improvement made as provided in this
Resolution is shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-168 on file
in the office of the City Engineer of said City, to which Profile
reference is hereby made for the description of such grade.
SECTION 3. All the foregoing work shall be done in accord-
ance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-168 on file in the
office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia.
All work on grading and the construction of concrete curbs
shall be done in accordance with the following Specifications on file
in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia, to wit,
"Standard Specifications No. 0 for the construction of curbs, sidewalks,
gutters, Oil fliacadam pavement and concrete pavement."
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-168 and the Spacifications
hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution No. 1348 of said City
Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same are hereby made a part of
this Resolution and are hereby referred to for a more particular descrip-
tion of said work. All streets and avenues referred to in this Reso-
lution are public streets and avenues of said City of Arcadia.

SECTION 4. That said contemplated work and improvement in
the opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is of more
than local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby
makes the expense of said work and improvement chargeable upon the
District, which District said City Council hereby declares to be the
District benefited by said work and improvement and to be assessed to
pay the costs and expenses thereof. A plat or map of said District
indicating by a boundary line the extent of the lands included in
said District was approved and adopted by Resolution No. 1349 of the
City of Arcadia on January 16, 1945, and is on file in the office of
the City Engineer of the City of Arcadia; reference is hereby made
to said plat or map for a complete description of said District to
be assessed to pay the costs and expenses of said work and improvement.
SECTION 5. Said City Council also determines and declares
that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of
Twenty-Five ($25.00) Dollars, or more, remaining uppaid for thirty
(30) days after the date of the Warrant to represent the expenses of
said work and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall extend over a
period ending nine (9) years from the second day of January next
succeeding the fifteenth day of the next October following their date
and an even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be
payable by coupon on the second day of January, every year after the
fifteenth day of the ne~t October following their date, until the
whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi-annually by
coupon on the second days of January and July respectively of each
year after their date at the rate of six (6%) per cent per annum on
all sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and interest are
paid. Said Bonds and interest thereon shall be payable at the office
of the City Treasurer of the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 6. All proceedings for the aforesaid work and improve-
ment and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had and taken under
and in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of
the State of Cali fornia, known and designated as the "Improvement Act
of 1911."
Reference is hereby made to Resolution of Intention No. 1350

of said City Council, declaring its intention to order said work to
be done for further particulars, which Resolution of Intention is on
file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia.
NOW, THERERORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that said City Council hereby
rejects 'all of said proposals or bids except the next herein mentioned
, and hereby awards the contract for doing said work and improvement to
the lowest, regular, responsible bidder therefor, to wit:
VIDa KOVACEVICH CO., a co-partnership, 5300 Imperial Highway,
South Gate, California, at the prices.mentioned in their proposal
on file for said work and improvement.
Tbe City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of this
award twice in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of
general circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia,
and hereby designated for that purpose by said City Council.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 6th day of March, 1945, by the affirmative vote of at least
three councilmen, towit:

ABSENT: CounCilman Leeper
