RESOLUTION NO. 1397.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CO:JNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
CALLING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON 'l'HE 31st"DAY OF JULY,,1945, POR
THE PURPOSE OF TEE ARCADIA CITY FIRK,iEN, ARCADIA CITY POLICEI,iEN
AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA OTHER THAN FIRm.lEN AND
POLICEi:IEN, VOTING ON THE PROPOSITION OF BECO;,iING i;iEliii3ERS OF THE

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF j\jl.CADIA DOES lBSOLVE AS
FOLLO':iS:
SECTION 1. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia
did on the 17th day of July, 1945, adopt Resolution No. 1396 declaring
its intention of entering into a contract with the Board of Administra-
tion of the California State Employees Retirement System for Employees
Retirement, and
WHEl1EAS, the State Retirement Act of the State of California
requires that .a~ election shall be held among Arcadia City Firemen,
Arcadia City Policemen, and City employees other than City Firemen
and City Policemen, for the purpose of approving or rejecting the
proposition of becominG members of the said State Retirement System,
NOIT, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Arcadia, that an election be and the same is hereby called
to be held on the 31st day of July, 1945, for the purpose of the
Arcadia City Firemen, Arcadia City Policemen, and employees of the
City of Arcadia other than Firemen and Policemen, voting on the
proposition of becoming members of the State Retirement System.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that for the ptwpose of said election
there shall be one polling place, which said polling place shall be

BE IT FUnTHER R~SOLVED that the Polls for said election shall
be opened at the hour of eight 0 I clock, A.I':!. of the morning of the
day of said election and shall be kept open until six o'clock, P.l,;. of
the afternoon of the same day, when the Polls shall be closed, except-
ing and providing ho~ever, that if at the hour of said closing there
are any employees in the polling place or in line at the door thereof
who are qualified to vote and have not been able to do so since
arriving, the Polls shall be kept open for sufficient time to enable
them to vote, but no one vlho shal,l have:arrived at.the polling place

after six o'clock, P.!!!. sball be entitled to vote though the Polls
may be open when he arrived.
BE IT FUhTHER rljSGLVED that any City Ftreman, Oity Policeman
or City employee other than City Firemen or City Policemen, who is
absent from the City or unable to come to the polling place by reason
of illness or physice.l incapacity, may secure .a ballot and place the
same in a plain envelope marked "Secret Ballot" and return it to
the Office of the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia on or before
ten o'clock A.M.,on August 1, 1945.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following named persons are
appointed to serve as election officers:
Inspector
Judge
Clerk
Clerl,
Clerk
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the ballots used at said election
shall be ballots as furnished by the State Retirement Board of the
State of California.
SECTION 2.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution.
I hereby certify that the .;foregoinG Reso'luti~n was adopted at
a regular meeting of the City.Council.of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 17th day of July, 1945, by the affirmative vote of at least
three Councilmen, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen, Adcock, Leeper, Nugent, Ormsby and Russell

ABSENT: None
