RESOLUTION NO. 1272.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AMENDING THE
RULES AND REGULATIONS SUPPLEMENTING ORDINANCE NO. 431 OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA AND ORDINANCE NOS. 438 and 446 AMENDATORY THERETO .AND RESOINDING
THE AMENDMENT TO SAID RULES AND REGULATIONS AS PROVIDED IN RESOLUTION NO.
1214 OF THIS COUNCIL, ADOPTED ON THE 6th DAY OF OCTOBER. 1942.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. That Section 3 of Rule VI of the Rules and Regulations
supplementing ordinances Nos. 431, 43B, and 446. creating the personnel
system of the City of Arcadia. pursuant to recommendation heretofore made
by the Personnel Board of the CitY of Arcadia, be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Section 3. (a) Every person holding a position under the personnel
system of this city who shall have been in the service of the city con-
~ tinuous1y for one (1) year. shall be allowed vacation for continuous service
performed. exclusive of overtime, in the calendar year preceding said
vacation to be taken as follows:
The first vacation after appointment to such a position may be
taken after such person shall have been'in the services for a period of
one (1) year and shall consist of one (1) day for each month of continuous
service performed in the preceding calendar year. The next and following
vacations shall be ta~en on a calendar year ~asis and shall consist of
fifteen (15) days vaciltion for members of the Fire and Police Departments
and two (2) weeks' vacation for the other said employees, for contlnuous
service performed during the whole of the precedine calendar year. and may
be taken at any time during the next calendar year after January 1 thereof
next following the calendar year when such vacation privilege accumulated.
Provided, however. thllt such vacation shall be taken at the time prescribed
by the appointing off~cer. No vacation shall be cumulative over more than
one (1) year. No person who shall have been absent on leave without pay
during the calendar year preceding that in which a vacation is taken shall
be allowed a vacation with full pay to,exceed one (1) working day for each
month or major fraction of a month of active service, exclusive of over-
time, performed during such preceding calendar year.

(b) Any person employed in the personnel system who is about
to leave the services of the city voluntarily. or who is about to be laid
off through no fault of his own, who shall immediately prior to his resigna-
tion or layoff have been in the service of the city continuously for one (1)
year or more, and who shall apply for such leave before such resignation or
layoff shall become effective, shall be allowed a vacation with:fu1l pay
for fifteen (15) days for members of the Fire and Police Departments and
with full pay for two (2) weeks for other said employees, for the continuous
service performed by such person. exclusive of overtime. during the whole
of the calendar year preceding. provided he has not already taken such
vacation, and in addition thereto one (1) day for each month or major frac-
tion thereof of continuous service performed, exclusive of overtime, in the
current calendar year. Compensation for such additional vacation for con-
tinuous service performed in a current calendar year shall be determined as
follows: the person shall be entitled to receive that fraction of his
monthly rate of compensation as the number of additional vacation d~s bears
to a thirty-day month. Provided, however. that no person w ho shall have
been absent on leave ~~thout pay during the calendar year preceding or dur-
ing the year, in which a vacation is taken shall be allowed a vacation to
exceed one (1) day for each month or major portion of a month of active
service, exclusive of overtime; the pay therefor to be determined in the
manner provided in this paragraph,for vacation for continuous service per-
formed in a current calendar year."
Section 2. Vacations due in the calendar year of 1943 to the
various employees under the personnel system of the City shall be allowed
in accordance with Section (3) of Rule VI of said Rules and Regulations
as established by Resolution 1214 of this Council heretofore adopted.
Vacations which shall become due to said employees after January 1, 1944,
shall be allowed under said Section (3) of said Rules and Regulations. as
herein amended.

Section 3. The City Clerk sh~l certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 2.k1d~ of
