RESOLUTION NO. 1283.
A RESOLU':'ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
REQUESTING FROM THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY, GASOLINE
TAX FUNDS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS IN THE CITY OF
ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. WHEREAS. the recently abandoned railway Right of
Way of the Southern Pacific Company, crosses the streets hereinafter
designated,'which said streets are public highways. in the City of Arcadia.
and
WHEREAS. by reason of the abandonment of said Right of Way
and the removal of the railway tracks therefrom~ the grade of said Right
of Way should be removed in said streets and the surface of said highways
improved where said Right of Way crosses other streets, and
WHEREAS, permission has heretofore been requested by the City
of Arcadia from the War Production Board to begin said construction on
said streets and the authority requested has been granted. and
~v.HEREAS, the estimated cost of making said improvements is as

follows: Cost of lowering said railway Right of Way to the proper street
gradE)',on Holly Avenue. $1100.00; on La Cadena Avenue, $700.00; and on
Baldwin Avenue, $1200.00. The cost of lowering the grade on Golden West
Avenue and Sunset Avenue so that drainage on the two said streets will
continue south thereon, $370.00. The cost of improving Huntington Drive
where said Right of Way crosses the same so as to eliminate the present
uneven riding surface of said highway, $630.00, and
WHEREAS. the County of Los Angeles has available for use by the
City of Arcadia, gasoline tax funds for the improvement of certain highways
in the City of Arcadia,

NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED. that the Board of SuperVisors
of Los Angeles County appropriate the sum of $4,000.00 from the portion of
gasoline tax funds available to the City of Arcadia for use on certain
highways in said City for the purpose of doing the contemplated work on the

streets described herein.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular
meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 1,th day 9f February, 1944, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen. to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen, Adcock, Jones, Leeper, Nueent and Ormsby
