RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN WORK AND IMPROVEMENT ON PORTIONS OF SIXTH AVENUE AND CAMINO REAL IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia did in open session at its regular meeting on February 4. 1941, publicly open, examine and decla~e all sealed proposals or bids ~r doing certain work ,and improveIllflnt on portiorisof Sixth Avenue and Camino Real in the City of Arcadia; that Resolution of Intention No. 1066 heretofore adopted by this Council on the 1st day of October, 1940, contains a complete description of said street work and improve- ment and reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention ,No. 1066 for a complete description of said work and improvement., SECTION 2. That the grade to whieh the work hereinabove described shall be done and the improveIllflnt made as provided in this Resolution, is shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No. 160, sheets 1 and 2, on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City, to which Profile reference is hereby made for the description of such grade. SECTION 3. All the foregoing work shall be done in accordance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-160, sheets 1 and 2, on file in the~flce of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia. All work on grading and the construction of concrete curbs shall be in accordance with the following Specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia. to.-wit: "Standard :.' Specifications No. 0 for the construction of curbs, sidewalks, gutters, 011 Macadam pavement and concrete pavement." Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-160, and the Specifications hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution No. 1064 of said City Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same are hereby made a part of this Resolution and are hereby referred to for a more particular description of said work. All streets and avenues referred to in this ~esolution are public streets and avenues of said City of Arcadia. SECTION 4. That said contemplated work and improvement in the opinion of the City Council of said City of Arcadia, is of, more than -1- L . JIll ,J? ~ - ,.. .-~... " .> ~. '\.:..:.1"'" ..., local or ordinsry'public benefit and ,said City Council hereby makes the expense of said work and improvement chsrgeable upon the District, which District said City Council hereby declares to be the District benefited by said work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof, which said District is completely described in Reso- lution of Intention No. 1066 beretofore adopted by this Council o~ the 1st day of October, 1940. and to which Resolution reference is hereby made for a complete description of said DLstrict to be assessed to pay the cost and expense of said work and improvement. SECTION 5. Said City Council also determines and declares that Serial Bonds sball be issued to re present each assessment of Twenty-Five ($25.00) Dollars, or more, remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days after the date of the warrant to represent the expenses of said work and " improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding the fifteenth day of the next October following their date and an even annual pro- portion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second day of January, every year after the fifteenth day of the next October following their date,' until the whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi-annually by coupon on the second days of January and July respectively of each year after their date at the rate of six (6%) per cent per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of said , principal and interest are paid. Said Bonds and interest thereon shall be payable at the office of the City Treasurer of the City of Arcadia. SECTION 6. All of the proceedings for the aforesaid work and improvement and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had and taken under and'in accordance with the provisi.ons of an Act of the Legislature of the State...of.California, known and designated as the "Improvement, Act of 1911", approved April 7, 1911, and of all Acts supplementary thereto or amendatory thereof. Reference is hereby made to Resolution of Intention No. 1066, of said City Council, declaring its intention to order said work, to be done. for further particulars, which Resolution of Intention is on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia. -2- . ' " .L ' ~ ~ .J.. - ~ -t NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT R~SOLVED, that said City Council here- by rejects all of said proposals or bids except the next herein mentioned and hereby awa~ds the contract for doing said work and improvement to the low~st, regula~, responsible bidder therefor, to-wit: To Griffith Company, 502 Los AngelesRy. Bldg. LOB Angeles, California at the prices mentioned in'their proposal on file for said work and improvement. Th~ City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of this award twice in the Arcadia Tribune'and Arcadia News, a newspaper of ganeral circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and hereby designated for that puhpose by said City Council. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
