A REgOLUTION OF 'l'HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA ABANDONING THE CLASSIFICATION OF "RADIO TECHNICIAN AND HaSEMAN" IN THE PERSONNEL SYSTEM OP THE CITY OF ARCADIA. THE CITY COT,JNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION. 1. WHEREAS, unqer the following Ordinances of the City of Arcadia, to~wit, Ordinance No. 431 adopted March 5, 1940, Ord- inance No. 438 adopted June 28, 1940, and Ordinance No. 446, adopted October 1, 1940, various employments of the City of Arcadia were placed under the p'ersonne1 system created by said Ordinance .No. '431, 'and WHEREAS, under the provisions of said Ordinances certain employees were blanketed in, in their then present positions, as employees under the personnel system, and WHEREAS, one. Heman Steele was blanketed in as a radio ~JI technicial and hoseman due to the fact that his duties were divided between the Fire Department of the City of Arcadia and radio work in,the Police Department of .the C;Lty of ArCadia, .and WHEREAS, said Herman Steele subsequently received permanent injuries to the extent that he will be unable to again perform the duties of radio technician and hoseman, .and WHEREJ.S, due to the fact that the Federal Cozmnunications Con:mission require that any radio technician be the holder of a radio -telegraph license, and, WHEREAS, said Ordinance No. 431 requires that any person enter- ing the employ of the City of Ar~adia in the Police or Fire Depar~lents shall be not less than twenty-one nor more than. thirty.years of age, and WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia has been unable to procure the services of any indi'vidual whose qualifications' meet the. requirements of ,II radio technicial and hoseman, and \VHEREAS, it is necessary under the rules of the Federal Con:munio!tions C0ll1ll1i13sion that a radio. technician ~e available at all times for work on any broadcastinB system' licensed under said Federal Communications ConnniBsion, and WHEREAS, it is necess'ary that the radio system of the Police Department of the City of Arcadia be licensed by said Federal Communications -1- Commission in order to operate lawfully, and WHEREAS, the classification of ItRadio Technician and Hoseman" was created for the sole purpose of fitting the qualifications of said Herman Steele, then employed as radio technician and hoseman, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the position of ItRadio Te chnician and Boseman It. unaer the' personnel system of the City of Arcadia, be abandoned, because the necessity for the position involved no longer exists. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. I'hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a re=lar _meeting of the City council of the C.i ty of Arcadia, held on the. 'ith day of May , 1942, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen,.to-wit: AYES: Councilmen, Adcock, Jones, Leeper, Nugent Rnd Ormsby. NOES: None , ABSENT: None. ~~~ - City Cler . .
