SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF A VOTING DELEGATE AND ALTERNATE
DELGATE FOR THE 2012 LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES
CONFERENCE
Recommendation: Appoint a City of Arcadia Voting Delegate
and Alternate Delegate
SUMMARY
The League of California Cities Annual Conference is scheduled for September 5 -7 in
San Diego. An important part of the conference is the annual business meeting that will
take place at noon on Friday, September 7. At this meeting the League membership,
through designated voting delegates, considers and takes action on resolutions that
establish League policy.
In order to vote on behalf of the City of Arcadia at the annual business meeting, the City
Council must select, by official action, a Voting Delegate and up to two Alternate Voting
Delegates, and provide evidence of such action to the League by August 15, 2012. The
Delegate and Alternate Delegate(s) must be registered to attend the conference (either
in its entirety or just Friday), and must register at the Voting Delegate Desk prior to the
business meeting.
As of the time this report was prepared, Council Members Amundson and Kovacic have
both told staff that they plan to attend the League Conference. Council Member
Amundson has also indicated that he would be willing to serve as the City's Voting
Delegate, and attend the business meeting, if the City Council so desires.
Once the Voting Delegates have been selected, staff will forward the required
information to the League.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council appoint a Voting Delegate and an Alternate
Delegate for the 2012 League of California Cities Annual Conference.
