RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 176.
. ..
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AR-
CADIA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO IMPROVE A PORTION OF FOURTH AVE_
NUE IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA AND DETERMINING THAT SERIAL BOlIDS SHALL
BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF AND FIXING A TIME AND PLACE
FOR HEARING OBJECTIONS TO SAID PROPOSED WORK OR Il1!PROVEIlENT.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS: .
SECTION 1: That the public interest and convenience re-
quire and it is the intention of the Board of Trustees of said City
of Arcadia to order the following work and improvement to be done
in said City of Arcadia, to-wit:
First: That that portion of the roadway of said Four~'
Avenue from the center line of ~alnette Avenue to the center line
of Duarte Road, ten feet in width and situate between the Easterly
curb line of said Fourth Avenue and the oil macada'll pavement nol'J
in place in said portion of Fourth Avenue, be graded and paved with
oil macadam three inches thick, except where such oil macadam pave_
ment is now in place and in good condition in the intersections of
said Duarte Road and Fourth Avenue, and Valnette Avenue and Fourth
A venue.
Second: That that portion of the roadway of said Fourth
Avenue between the limits hereinabove specified, ten feet in width
and situate between the Westerly curb line of said portion of Fourt
Avenue and the oil macada'll pavement now in place in said portion
of Fourth Avenue, be graded and paved with oil macedam ~
three inches thick, except where such oil macadam pavement is now
in place and in good condition in the intersections of satd Duarte
Road and Fourth Avenue and Valnette Avenue and Fourth Avenue.
Third: That a concrete curb be constructed along each
side of said Fourth Avenue from the Southerly curb line of Duarte
Road to the Noriherly curb line of Valnette Avenue with returns
at all intersecting Streets except where concrete curbs and returns
are already laid and constructed on said portion of said Fourth
Avenue to the official line and grade and are now in good conditio

SECTION 2: That the grade to which the work shall be done
and the improvement made as provided for in this.Resolution, is
that shovm on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-126, on file in
the office of the City Engineer of ~aid City of Arcadia, to which
said Profile reference is hereby made for a description of such
grade.
SECTION 3: All of the foregoing work shall be.done in
accordance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-126, on
file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia.
Said work shall also be in accordance with the following
Specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City
of Arca.dia, to-vii t:
Standard Specifications No. 0 for the construction of
curbs, sidewalks, gutters, oil macadam and concrete pavement.
All Streets and Avenues referred to in this Resolution
are Public Streets and Avenues of said City of Arcadia.
SECTION 4: Said Board of Trustees hereby det.ermines and
declares that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each as-
sessment of Twenty_five ($25.00) Dolla,rs. or more remaining unpaid
for twenty (20) days after the date of the warrant to represent th
expenses of said work and improvement. Said serial bonds shall
extend ov~r a 'period ending nine (9) years from the second day of
January next succeeding the fifteenth day of the next November
following their date and an even annual proportion of the principa]
sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second day of'Jan_,
uary every year after the fifteenth day of the next November fol_
lowing their date, until the whole is paid and the interest shall
be payable semi_annually by coupon on the second days of Januafy
and July respectively of each year after their date at the rate of
seven per cent per annum on all sums unpaid until the "hole of
said principal and interest are paid.
SECTION 5: Notice is hereby given that on Wednesday,the

15th. day of April, '1925, at the hour of eight 0 t clock P. M. of
said day, in the Council Chamber of the Board of Trustees of said
City of Arcadia, in the City Hall of said City, any and all persons

having any objections to said proposed work or improvement or both,
may appear before said Board of Trustees and show cause why said
5

pro~osed work or improvement should not be carried out in accord-
7
ance with this Resolution.

SECTION 6: All proceedings for the aforesaid work and
improvement and for the issuance of said bonds shall be had and
taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the
Legisla ture of the St3.te of California, known and designated as the
"Improvement Act of 1911", approved April 7, 1911, and of all Acts

supplementary thereto or amendatory thereof.
SECTION 7: The Superintendent of Streets shall post or
cause to be posted conspicuously along the line of said contemplate
work or improvement, notices of the passage of this Resolution in
the manner and form required by law.
SECTION 8: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this Resolution and shall cause the same to be published twice
in The Arcadia Journal, a weekly newspaper published and circulate,
in said City of Arcadia and hereby designated for that purpose.
Said Board of Trustees does not deem it advisable that the City
Clerk mail copies of "Notice of Improvement" to the owners or re-
puted o.mers of property to be assessed for such proposed work or
improvement and the mailing of such notices is hereby dispensed
wi tho
The foregoing Resolution was adopted at a reguler meet-
ing of the Board of Trustees of the City of Arcadia, held on the
18th. day of March,' 1925, by the affirmative vote of at least thre
Trustees, to_wit:
