A RESOLU'IION OF THE CITY COUlICIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A GENT.RAL 1nnQICIPAL ELBCTION IN S~ID CITY ON THE 9TH DAY OF APRIL, 1940; DESIGNATING THE OFFICES TO BE FILLED AT SAID ::<:LECTION; ORDERING CERTAIN MEASURES SUB:IITTED TO THE ELECTORS; PROVIDIllG FOR THE POLLIlIG PLACES FOR THE HOLDING OF SUCH AN ELECTION, APPOINTING THE ELECTION OFFICERS FOR THE S~~ AND FIXING THEIR COUPENSATION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <OF ARC';'DIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLO~IS : SECTION 1. That a general municipal election be and the same Js hereby called to be held In said City of Arcadia, on Tuesday, the 9th day of April, 1940, for the following purposes: 1. For t~e purpose of electing the following officers, to~wit: (a) Two (2) members of the City Council of said City of Arcadia to hold office for 'bhe full term or period of four (4) ;,tears, from and after the 15th day of April, 1940; (b) One (1) member of the City Council of said City of Arcadia to hold office for the unexpired term or period of two (2) years, from and after the :5th day of April, 1940; (c) Cit:\' Clerk; (d) Cit;i' Treasurer. 2. For the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said City of Arcadia., the follo\7ing measures: (a) Shsll the City of Arcadia adopt Ordinance No. 424 of said CJty, entitled n An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Arcadia amending Ordinance No. 170 of said City by adding thereto three new Sections, to be known and numbered as Section 5-H, Section 7-G and section 8-E.~ rezoning certain property in the City of Arcadia from residential zone to jusiness zones. (b) Shall the City of Arcadia adopt an Ordinance creating and establishing the office of City Manager of the City of Arcadia, defining his power. prescribing his duties, fixing his compensation in a sum not less than Five Thousand ($5,000.00) Dollars per annum, prOViding for the appointment by him of a Secretary or Secretaries at such compensation as may be fixed by the City Council, which Ordinance is defined and ordered submitted in Ordinance No. 427 of the City Council of said City. SECTION 2. That the election precincts last established and -1- r~""il.l.".'" , designated within said City of Arcadia by the Board of Supervisors of the County of L03 An5eles, state of California, for the purpose of holding general ele,~tions and which said election precincts so established were and are desi311ll.ted as Arcadia City Precincts Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12" 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18, respectively, shall for the purpose of said geil.Elral municipal election be consolidated, desiGnated and shall embrace all that. :9art of said City of Arcadia as follows, to-wit: (a) Arcaclia City Precinct No.1, Arcadia City Precinct No. 14 and Arcadia City Precinct No. 18 shall be consolidated and designated as Arcadia City Consoli.dated Precinct No.1, which said Arcadia City Con- solidated Precinct Ko. 1 shall consist of and be co-extensive with said Arcadia City Precincts Nos. 1, 14 and 18. (b) Arcadia City Precinct No.2, Arcadia City Precinct NO.3, Arcadia city Precinct No. 4 and Arcadia City Precinct No. 15 shall be con- solidated and designated as Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No.2, which said Arcadia City Co:nsolidated Precinct No.2 shall consist of and be co- extensive with said Arcadia City Precincts NOi. 2, 3, 4 and 15. (c) Arcadia City Precinct NO.5, Arcadia City Precinct No.6 and Arcadia City Precinct No.7 shall be consolidated and designated as Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct NO.3, Which said Arcadia City Con- solidated Precinct No. 3 shall consist of and be co-extensive with said Arcadia City Precincts Nos. 5, 6 and 7. (d) Arcadia City Precinct No.8 and Arcadia City Precinct No. 17 shall be consolidated. and designated as Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No.4, which said Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No. 4 shall consist of and be co-extensive with said Arcadia City Precincts Nos. 8 and 17. (e) Arcadia City Precinct No.9, Arcadia City Precinct No. 10 and Arcadia City Precinct No. 16 shall be consolidated and designated as Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct NO.5, which said Arcadia City Consolidated Precinct No.5 shall Iconsist of and be co-extensive viith said Arcadia City Precincts NO.9, 10 and 16. -:g.. .,. Moore SECTION 4~ That the Polls for said election shall be opened at 6 :00 0' clock, a.m., on the day of said e lection and shall remaj_n open continuously from slad time until 7:00 o'clock, p.m., of the same day. SECTION 5,~ That said general municipal election shall be held in accordance with the provisions of the Election Code of the State of California, pertaining to Cities of the sixth cla~s, and with the general election laws of the State of California insofar as the same may be applicable. SECTIOn 6.~ That the compensation to be paid to each of said officers of electior.. for all services by each of said officers to be rendered at said general municipal election, shall be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of $7.00. SECTION 7.. That said City Council 1'1111 meet at its usual place of meeting on Monday, April 15, 1940 at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m., to canvass the returns of said election and declare the results thereof. SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
