RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. ~

1 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO IMPROVE A PORTION OF FIRST AVE-
2 NUE IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA Al~D DECLARING THAT SERIAL BONDS SHALL
BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF.

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF TEE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RE-
4 SOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: That the public interest and convenience
6 require and it is the intention of the Board of Trustees of said
work
7 City of Arcadia to order the following street^and improvement
8 to be done in said City of Arcadia, to-wit:

First: That a cement sidewalk five (5) feet in width

10 be constructed to the official line and grade along the easterly
11 line of the roadway of said FIRST AVENUE from a line dra~m across
12 said First Avenue parallel with and 9.5 feet southerly of the

Improvement Plan No. C 101, adopted by said Board of Trustees for

said work and on file in the office of the City Engineer of said
25
City and in further accordance with Special Specifications "A"
26
therefor, adopted by Resolution No. ~ of said Board of Trustees

and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City.

Second: That a cement curb be constructed to the of-

ficial line and grade along the easterly line of the roadway of
30
said FIRST AVENUE from the northerly curb line of Falling Leaf Ave
31
nue to a line dravm across said First Avenue parallel with and

299.2 feet northerly of the-north line of Walnut Street and also,

1 that a cement curb be constructed along the westerly line of the
2 roadway of First Avenue from the northerly curb line of Falling
3 Leaf Avenue to a line drawn across said First Avenue 12 feet north
4 erly of and parallel with its prolongation easterly of the souther
5 ly line of Santa Clara Street, including returns at street and
6 alley intersections, all in accordance With said Improvement Plan
7 No. C 101 and in further accordance with Special Sp ecifica tions I'B n
8 therefor adopted by Resolution No. 23 of said Board of Trustees
9 and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City.

Third: That concrete cross-walks, five (5) feet in
11 width, be constructed along the westerly line of First Avenue at

with and where shown in said Improvement Plan No. C 101 and in

opted by Resolution No. ~ of said Board of Trustees and on file
in the office of the City Clerk of said City.
Fourth. That six (6) reinforced concrete, ornamental

street lighting standards, together with wires, pipes, conduits,

1 globes, lamps and all accessory fixtures thereto, be installed in
2 and along the easterly line of said First Avenue and the prolonga-
3 tion thereof northerly, from the northerly line of Falling Leaf
4 Avenue to the southerly line of the said right of way of the Atchi-
5 son, Topel~a and Santa Fe Railway Company and also, that six (6)
6 reinforced concrete, ornamental street lighting standards, together
7
with wires, pipes, conduits, globes, lamps and all accessory fix-
8 tures thereto, be installed in and along the westerly line of First
~ Avenue from said northerly line of Falling Leaf Avenue to s~d
10 southerly line of said right of way; that said lighting standards,
11 wires, pipes, conduits, globes, lamps and all accessory fixtures
12 thereto, shall be installed at the points and on the lines and
13
grades and at the elevations as shown by Improvement Plans No. C
14 101 and C 102, adopted by said Board of Trustees for said work and
15
on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City, and in
16 further accordance with Special Specifications "E" therefor, adopte
17
by Resolution No. 23 of said Board of Trustees, and on file in the
18 office of the City Clerk of said City.

SECTION 2: All Improvement Plans referred to in this

Resolution are on file in the office of the City Engineer of said
21
City.

All Special Specifications referred to in this Resolu
23
tion are on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City.

Said Improvement Plans and Special Specifications are
hereby referred to for a more particular description of said work
25

and made a part hereof.

SECTION 3: Said Board of Trustees deterrninea that ser
28
ial bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of $25.00

or more for the cost of said \rork or improvement; said serial bonde
30
shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years from and after
31
the second day of January next succeeding the date of said bonds
32
and shall bear interest at the rate of seven (7) per cent per

1 annum and an even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof
2 shall be payable by coupon on the second day of January of each
3 year after their date until the whole is paid and the interest
4 shall be payable semi-annually by coupon on the second day of Jan-
5 uary and July, respectively, of each year, at the rate of seven
8 (7) per cent per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of said
7
rincipal and interest have been paid.
SECTION 4: Notice is hereby given that on TIednesday

9 the 17th. day of April, 1918, at the hour of eight o'clock, P. M.
10 of said day, in the Council Chamber of the Board of Trustees of
11 said City of Arcadia, at the City Hall located on the Westerly side
12 of said First Avenue between st. Joseph Street and Santa Clarp Stre t

. SECTION 5: All the proceedings for the aforesaid im-

provement and for the issuance of said bonds shall be taken under
19 and in accordance with the provisiop~of an Act of the Legislature
20 of the State of California, known and designated as the "Improve-
21
ment Act of 1911", approved April 7, 1911, and of all Acts supple-
22
mentary thereto and amendatory thereof.

SECTION 6: The Superintendent of Streets shall immed
24
iately post or cause to be posted conspicuously along the line of
25
said contemplated work and improvement, notices of the passage of
28
this Resolution of Intention in the manner and form required by
27
28
law.
SECTION 7: The City Clerk shall certify to the pas-
29
sage of this Resolution and shall cause the same to be published
twice in The Arcadia Journal, a weekly newspaper published and cir
culated in said City of Arcadia and hereby designated for that pur

1 The foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular ad-
2 journed meeting of the Board of Trustees of said City of Arcadia,
3 held on the 27th. day of March, 1918, by t"e affirmative vote of
4
at least three Trustees, to-wit: ~
