A RESOLUTION OF-THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
,ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO
GRADE,PREPARE SUBGRADE, PAVE AND CONSTRUCT
CONCRETE GUTTERS AND APRONS ON A PORTION OF THE
FIRST ALLEY SOUTH OF LA PORTE STREET AND OTHER
ALLEYS WITHIN THE CITY OF ARCADIA, AND DET~ITNING
THAT BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT THE COST
THEREFCR, AND DECLARING THE WORK TO BE OF MORE
THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT AND THAT THE
EXPENSE THEREOF SHALL BE ASSESSED UPON A DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia, by
Resolution No. 2281, adopted July 30, 1952, set a hearing, pursuant
to Section 17 of Article XIII of the Constitution of the State of
California, for August 19, 1952, to determine whether or not the
puoiic convenience and necessity require the improvement of the first
alley south of La. Porte Street from First Avenue to Second Avenue,

the first alley north of Colorado Boulevard from First Avenue to
Lorena Avenue, a portion of the first alley east of Santa Anita Avenue
from Forest Avenue to Floral Avenue, a portion of the first alley north
of Forest Avenue from North View Avenue to Second Avenue, a portion of
the first alley south of Diamond Street from Santa Anita Avenue to
First Avenue, a portion of the first alley south of El Dorado Street
from Santa Anita Avenue to First Avenue, the first alley south of Fano
Street from Santa Anita Avenue to Second Avenue, all in the City of
Arcadia, by the grading, preparing subgrade, paving, and pavement of
concrete gutters and aprons on said alleys and portions of said alleys
and appurtenant work thereto; and
WHEREAS, on said date said hearing was held and said City
Council by Resolution No. 2288, adopted by a 4/5ths vote on August
19, 1952, determined that the public convenience and necessity require
the said improvement of the first alley south of La Porte Street from
First Avenue to Second Avenue, the first alley north of Colorado

Boulevard from First Avenue to Lorena Avenue, a portion of the first
alley east of Santa Anita Avenue from Forest Avenue to Floral Avenue,
a portion of the first alley north of Forest Avenue from North View
Avenue to Second Avenue, a portion of the first alley south of Diamond
Street from Santa Anita Avenue to First Avenue, a portion of the first
alley south of El Dorado Street from Santa Anita Avenue to First Avenue,
the first alley south of Fano Street from Santa Anita Avenue to Second
Avenue, all in the City of Arcadia, by the grading, preparing suograde,
paving, and pavement of concrete gutters and aprons on said alleys and
portions of said alleys and appurtenant work thereto.
NOW, TH~EFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience require
and it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Arcadia to
order the following work to be done, to-wit: The grading, preparing
subgrade,paving, and pavement of concrete gutters and aprons and
appurtenant work thereto on the first alley south of La Porte Street
from First Avenue to Second Avenue, the first alley north of Colorado

Boulevard from First Avenue to Lorena Avenue, a portion of the first
alley east of Santa Anita Avenue from Forest Avenue to Floral Avenue,
a portion of the first alley north of Forest Avenue from North View
Avenue to Second Avenue, a portion of the first alley south of Diamond
Street from Santa Anita Avenue to First Avenue, a portion of the first
alley south of El Dorado Street from Santa Anita Avenue to First
Avenue, the first alley south of Fano Street from Santa Anita Avenue
to Second Avenue, all within the City of Arcadia. The estimated cost
of the improvement is $27,926.80.
All of the foregoing work shall be done in accordance with
the Profile and Improvement Plan Job No. 200 and any supplemental
drawings mentioned thereon, which said Profile and Improvement Plan
was adopted by the City Council on July 3D, 1952, is on file in the

office of the City Engineer of said City and in accordance with
specifications entitled "Specifications for the Improvement of a
Portion of the First Alley South of La Porte Street and Other Alleys
in the City of Arcadia" as adopted by the City Council of said City
on the 30th day of July, 1952.
SECTION 2. That said proposed work or improvement in the
opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia is of more than
local or ordinary public benefit, and said Council hereby proposes
that the district in the City of Arcadia to be benefited by said work
or improvement and to be assessed to pay the cost and expense thereof,
is shown upon a certain plan or map approved by the City Council on
July 30, 1952, indicating the exterior boundary thereof, which said
plan or map is on file in the office of the City Engineer and is
marked No. W-62.
Said plan or map hereby is referred to and shall govern for
all details as to the extent of said assessment district. Said assess-
~ ment district includes in general the lot' and parcels of land abutting
upon or contiguous to said hereinabove described alleys and portions
of alleys, but reference hereby is made to said plan or map for all
details as to the extent of said assessment district and for any
variation between the last mentioned general description and the extent
of said assessment district as shown on said plan or map. All public
streets or alleys, or portions thereof, hereby are excepted from said
district.
SECTION 3. That serial bonds bearing interest at the rate
of 6% per annum shall be issued to represent each assessment of
$25.00 or more remaining unpaid for 30 days after the date of the
warrant. Said serial bonds shall extend over a period ending 9 years
from the second day of January next succeeding the next October 15th
following their date. Payments on the principal of unpaid assessments
and interest shall be made by property O\1ners to the City Treasurer

and the same shall be disbursed by him or as provided in the
"Improvement Act of 1911" hereinafter referred to.
SECTION 4. Notice hereby is given that on September 16, 1952,
at the hour of 8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall of
said City of Arcadia, situated at 240 West Huntington Drive, in said
City, any and all persons having any objections to the proposed work
or improvement may appea~ before the City Council and show cause why
the said proposed work or improvement should not be carried out in
accordance with said Resolution of Intention.
SECT[C)N 5... The Superintendent of Streets immediately shall
cause to be conspicuously posted along the line of said contemplated
work or improvement and also along all the open streets within the
said district, notice of the passage of this Resolution of Intention
in the manner and form prescribed by law.
The City Clerk hereby is direc~ed to mail notices, in the
manner and form prescribed by law, of the adoption of this resolution
to all persons owning real property in the hereinbefore described
assessment district, whose names and addresses appear on the last
equalized assessment roll for city taxes or as known to the City Clerk.
SECTION 6. The City Council of the City of Arcadia in making
the improvement in doing the work prescribed herein, elects to proceed
under and in accordance with the provisions of the "Improvement Act
of 1911," being Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code of the
State of California.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution of Intention and shall cause the same to be published
twice in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper published and circulated
in the City of Arcadia, the first of which publication shall be not
less than 10 days prior to September 16, 1952.

SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in
full force and effect.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
