HomeMy WebLinkAbout2293 , RESOLUTION NO.2293 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, URGING FAVOR- ABLE COliGRESSIONAL ACTION ON THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT OF ARCADIA WASH. WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Flood Control District bas or is about to propose to the United States Army Corps of Engineers the improvement'of the Arcadia Wash for flood control purposes, and WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia has long been beset vith flood control problems arising principally from surface vaters emanating from uplands beyond the boundaries of the City of Arcadia, thereby presenting serious flood problems and iDlllld.nent threats to life and property; and I WHEREAS, the solution of said problems are not only beyond the financial abil1 ty of the City, but transcend the boundaries of local government and require solution by higher governmental authority. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Arcadia does bereby resolve that a prompt improvement of Arcadia Wash is vital to the health, safety and velfare of the inhabitants of this City and the surrounding communi ty . / RESOLVED further, that this Council doe\ hereby urge improvement of Aroadia Wash for flood oontrol- purposes. \ RESOLVED further, that ~he City Clerk be and he is hereby in- the prompt structed to forward a copy of this Resolution to Los Angeles County Flood Control District, the United States Army Corps of Eng1neers, and to Hon. Wm. F. Knovland and Richard M. Nixon, United States Senators in Wash1ngton,D. C., and Hon. Patrick J. Hillings, Re- presentative, washington, D. C. The City Clerk shall oertify to the adoption of this Resolution I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution vas adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the 19th day of August, 1952, by the affirmative vote -1- IND;_w:~' of' at least three Councilmen. to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Dow.
