A RESOLUTION OF THE ,CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CER-
TAIN WORK AND IMPROVEMENT OF THAT PORTION OF LONGDEN
AVENUE FROM SIXTH AVENUE TO SANTA ANITA WASH, AND
OTHER STREETS IN SAID CITY ,OF ARCADIA.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. WHER~, the City Council of the City of Arcadia
did in open session at its regular meeting on January 15, 1952,
publicly open, examine and declare all sealed proposals or bids for
doing certain work and improvement on that portion of Longden Avenue
from Sixth Avenue to Santa Anita Wash and other streets in said City
Of Arcadia, which said sealed proposals or bids were thereupon re-
ferred to the City Manager for investigation and report, and
SECTION 2. WHEREAS, Resolution of Intention No.2183 hereto-
fore adopted by this Council on the 2nd day of October 1951, contains
8 complete description of said work and improvement and reference
is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention for a complete des-
cription of said work and improvement,
SECTION 3. That the grade to which the work hereinabove des-
cribed shall be done and the improvement made as provided in this
Resolution, is shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No.C-51-3, on
file in the office of the City Engineer of said City to which profile
reference is hereby made for the description of such grade.
SECTION 4. That all of the foregoing work and improvement
shall be done in accordance with said Profile and Improvement Plan
No.C-51-3, on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City
of Arcadia.
That all of the ~oregoing work on grading and the construction
of concrete curbs, and concrete gutters shall be in accordance
with the follo~ing specifications on file in, the office of the City
Engineer pf the City of Arcadia, to wit: lISpecifications for the im-
provement of that portloft;of Longaen'Avenue from Sixth Avenue to Santa
Anita Wash and other streets in the City of Arcadia."
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No.C-51-3 and the specifi-
cations hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution No.21Bl
of said City Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same are hereby

made a part of this Resolution and are hereby referred to for a more
particular description of said work. All roads, avenues, streets,
and drives referred to .1nthis resolution are public roads, avenues,
streets and drives of said City.
SECTION 5. The City of Arcad~a will payout of City funds
that portion of the improvement other than the construction of curbs
and gutters, including excavation, which curb and gutter construction
and excavation is to be assessed against the property owners.
The City of Arcadia will payout of City funds the construction
or curb and gutter, including excavation; for that portion which has to
replace existing curb and gutter that does not meet official line and
grade, all as shown on the plans hereinafter referred to.
SECTION 6. That said contemplated work and improvement, in
the opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is of more
than local or ordinary public benefit and said,City Council hereby
makes the expense of said work and improvement chargeable upon the
District, which district said City Council hereby declares to be the
district benefitted by said work and improvement and to be assessed
to pay the costs and expenses thereof, which said District shall in-
clude all those lots in the said City of Arcadia, County of Los,
Angeles, State' of California shown and indicated on the plat or map
of said District, whereon is indicated by a boundary line the extent of
the lands included in the proposed assessment District, which plat or
map was approved and adopted by Resolution No.2182, of the City Council
of said City of Arcadia, and is on file in the office of the City
Engineer of the City of Arcadia. Reference is hereby made to said
plat or map for further, full and complete description of said assess-
ment district, which said plat or map is designated as Assessment
District No.w-60, and said map so on file shall govern all details
as to the extent of such assessment district.
SECTION 7. That said City Council also determines and declares
that serial bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of
Twenty-five ($25.eO) dollars, or more, remaining unpaid for thirty
(30) days after the date of the recording of the warrant, to repre-
sent the expenses of said work, and improvement. Said serial bonds

shall extend over a period of nine (9) years from the second day
of January next succeeding the next October 15th following their
date and an even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof
shall be payable by coupon on the second day of January of each year,
following the next October 15th after their date, until the whole is
paid and the interest shall be payable semi-annually by coupon on
the second days of January and July, respectively, of each year after
their date, at the rate of six (6%) per cent per annum on all,sums
unpaid until the whole of said principal and interest are paid. Said
bonds and interest thereon shall be payable at the office of the
City Treasurer of the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 8. All of the proceedings for the aforesaid work
and improvement and for the issuance of said bonds shall be had and
taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an act of the
Legislature of the State of California, known and designated as the
"Improvement Act of 1911 ", being Division 7, Streets and Highways
Code of the State of California.
Reference is hereby made to Resolution of Intention No.2183
of said City Council, declaring its intention to order said work to
be done, for further particulars, which Resolution of Intention is
on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the said City Council
hereby rejects all of said proposals or bids, except the next herein
mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for doing said work and im-
provement to the lowest, regular, responsible bidder therefor, to wit,
to Vido Kovacevich Company at the price mentioned in its proposal on
file for said work and improvement.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of this
award twice in the Arcadia Bulletinl a newspaper of general circulation,
published and circulated in the City of Arcadia and hereby designated
for that purpose by said City Council.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 5th day of February, 1952, by the affirmative vote of at
