RESOLUTION NO. 2221
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING, ADOPTING AND
ACCEPTING THE FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE
PLANNING COMMISSION OF SAID CITY, DENYING VARIANCES
AFFECTING CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY IN SAID CITY AS
THEREIN RECOMMENDED, AND APPROVING THE RECLASSIFICATION
OF CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY IN SAID CITY AS THEREIN
RECOMMENDED
WHEREAS, on the 29th day of OctOber, 1951, there was filed
with the Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia the petition of
Ross A. Himes and June Nancy Himes, as owners, requesting a change
of zone classification as therein more specifically set forth,
pursuant to which application public hearings were duly noticed and
regularly held by said Planning Commission; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to the foregoing, said Planning Commission
did, on December 4, 1951, pass, approve and adopt its certain
Resolution No. 58 entitled "A Resolution of the City Planning
Commission of the City of Arcadia, California, Recommending the
Reclassification of Certain Real Property in the City of Arcadia,
the Denial of Certain Requested Reclassification of Property, and
Recommending the Granting of a Variance Effecting Certain Property
in the City of Arcadia", wherein said Planning Commission made
certain findings and recommended the classification and reclassi-
fication of and the granting of conditional variances affecting
property in said City in the manner and to t~e extent therein set
forth; and,
\{.[&REAS, subsequent to the adoption of said Resolution No.
58, as aforesaid, a public hearing was duly held by and before the
City Council of the City of Arcadia on the matters therein containe~
and the matter was fully considered by said City Council; and,
ImmREAS, said CRY Council did thereupon refer the entire
subject matter back to said Planning Commission for further consider-
ation and recommendations thereon in the light of certain developments
enSUing subsequent to the adoption of said Resolution No. 58 by the
City Planning Commission; and,
WHEREAS, said matter was again reconsidered by said
Planning Commission at its regular meeting held February 13, 1952,
at which meeting said Planning Commission did make certain findings
and recommendations and adopted its certain Resolution No. 60,
entitled lIA Resolution of the Planning Commission of the City of
Arcadia, California, Recommending Classification of Certain Real
Property In the City of Arcadia"; and,
~ffiEREAS said Resolution No. 60 of the City Planning

Commission was presented to and considered by this City Council at
its regular meeting held February 19, 1952;
NOW, THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Arcadia,
California, does hereby find, determine, and resolve as follo\ffl:
SECTION 1. That for the purposes of clarity and brevity,
the applicants' property is hereinafter referred to as Parcels No.1,
NO.2, NO.3, No.4, No.5, No.6, and NO.7; that each of said
parcels is particularly described in Exhibit A attached hereto and
made a part hereof by reference, the same as if herein now set forth
in full.
SECTION 2. That the findings of the City Planning Commission
as set forth in their said Resolution No. 58, as amended in their said
Resolution No. 60, be and each of them are hereby adopted and made the
findings of the City Council, the same as if herein again specifically
set forth in full. That the recommendations of said Planning Commis-
sion as contained in their said Resolution No. 58, as amended by their
said Resolution No. 60, be and the same are hereby approved and
adopted.
SECTION 3. That upon the request of Ross A.'Himes, made
for himself and his wife, June Nancy Himes, as o.mers of and applicants
concerning the property involved in their said application, said
petitioners' request for change of classification be denied in full
except as hereinafter provided, and that all recommendations of the
City Planning Commission for variances affecting any portion of said v

property be and the same are hereby overruled and denied. That
Parcell, as hereinabove and hereinafter defined, should be placed
in and classified as Zone C-3; that Parcel 3, as hereinabove and
hereinafter defined, should be placed in/and classified as Zone R-2;
that Parcel 2 as hereinabove and hereinafter described, excepting
therefrom the following described portion thereof:
That portion of Lot 66 of the Santa Anita Colony Tract, ,in the City of Arcadia,
County of Los Angeles, state of california, constituting 'approximately 2.9 acreslJ
and described as follows: ' '
Beginning at a. point which is 425 feet Westerly from the Westerly line of Santa
Anita Avenue, 100 feet wide, and 235 feet Southerly of the Northerly line of
se.id Lot 66; thence EaSterly on a line parallel to the Northerly line of said
Lot 66 to a point in the Westerly line of Santa Anita Avenue, 100 feet wide,
distant Southerly 235 feet from the Northerly line of said Lot 66; thence Norther-
ly along the Westerly line of Santa Anita Avenue, 100 feet wide, 235 feet to the
Northerly line of said Lot 66, thence Westerly 550 feet along the Northerly
line of said Lot 66 to a point in said Northerly line; thence Southerly on a
line parallel to the Westerly line of Santa Anita Avenue, 100 feet '\'Tide, a
distance of l77i feet to a point; thence on a diagonal line Southeasterly from
said last described point to the point of beginnine.
should be placed in and classified as Zone PR-3; and that Ordinance
No. 760 of the City of Arcadia should be amended accordingly.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 4th day of March, 1952, by the affirmative vote of at least
three CounCilmen, to wit:
