HomeMy WebLinkAbout2224 RESOLUTION NO.2224 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, GIVING NOTICE 'OF THE PROPOS- ED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN"TERRITORY"ADJACENT- AND' CONTIGUOUS WITH THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, THE SAME BEING SITUATED WEAR THE NORTH WEST PORTI ON OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA. .' THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: " WHEREAS, pursuant , / , I to the "Annexation of Uninhabited territory Act of 1939", as amended, the City Council of the City of Arcadia, on its own motion, does hereby initiate proceedings for the annexation to the City of Arcadia of certain'uninhabited territory contiguous with and adjacent to the City limits of the City of Arcadia and near the Northwesterly portion of the City of Arcadia in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, more particularly described as follows: A portion of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, comprising the right of way of Foothill Boulevard between the East line of Baldwin Avenue and the West line of Second Avenue, being all the territory included within the follow- ing described exterior boundary line: Beginning at an angle point in the boundary line of the City of Arcadia, as now established; said point being the intersection of the north line of Foothill Boulevard, Be feet in width, with the east line of Baldwin Avenue, 60 feet in width; thence easterly along the boundary line of the City of Arcadia and following its various courses to an angle point in said boundary at the west line of Second Avenue; thence south along said boundary line 50 feet to an angle point; thence west along said boundary line to its intersection with the southerly prolongation of the east line of Baldwin Avenue, 60 feet in width; thence north- erly along said prolongation to the point of beginning. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia desiring to annex said uninhabited territory for the reason that all property contiguous to and adjacent to said property is already within the City of Arcadia, the efficient enforcement of law and order, and particularly the enforcement of local Ordinances of the City of Arcadia requiring the annexation of said territory, and the annexation thereof will promote and insure the harmonious development and use of the entire area adjacent thereto, and WHEREAS, the proposal for the annexation of said territory to the City of Arcadia has been submitted and favorably reported up- on to the proponents by the Boundary Commission of the County of Los Angeles with respect to the definiteness and certainties of the pro- , -1- ;.\.0. ~ / posed boundaries pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California; and WHEREAS, said territory is uninhabited and is contiguous to the City of Arcadia and is not a part of any other municipal cor- poration. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arcadia, that pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 19391 as amended, the City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby gives notice of said proposed annexation; that said territory shall be and the same is hereby designated for identifi- cation purposes as "Foothill Boulevard Annexation No.1". BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby gives notice of and fixes the 6th day of May, 1952, at the hour of 8:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall of the City of Arcadia, 240 W, Huntington Drive, Arcadia, California, as the day, hour and place when and w,here any person owning real property within such territory so proposed tO,be annexed having any objection s to the proposed annexation may appear before the City Council of the City of Arcadia and show cause why such territory shall not be annexed. The City Clerk of the City of Arcadia shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution to be published at least twice, but not oftener than once a week in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation publisbed in" tbe,City.,of Arcadia, and also in a newspaper of general circulation published outside of the City of Arcadia but in the' County of Los Angeles, said publication to be complete at least twenty days prior to the date set for the hearing; and the City Clerk shall also cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last equalized County assessment roll available on the date the proceedings were ini~iated, at the address shown on said assessment roll or as known to said City Clerk, and to any person who has filed-his name and address and the designation of the lands in which he has any interest, -2- either legal or equitable, with said City Clerk, all as provided in Section 35311 of the Government Code of the State of California.
