RESOLUTI ON NO. 2244
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
.<\RCADIA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING AN ALLOCATION OF
THE SUM OF $23,190.50 FOR EMERGENCY FLOOD RELIEF.
WHEREAS, storm, and flood or flood conditions. occurring
subseQuent to October I, 1950, caused extensive damage to, and
destruction of City and County streets and roads and other property
within the City of Arcadia; and,
vrnBREAS, the estlmated cost of the necessary required repair
and restoratlon thereof Is the sum of FORTY SIX THOUS~!D THREE

HUNDRED EIGHTY-ONE AriD NO/IOO ($46,381.00) DOLLARS).
WHEREAS, by Chapter 13, Statutes of 1951, '~n Act making an
appropriation to the Emergency Fund specifled in Item 277 of the
Budget Act of 1950, relating to the repair and restoratlon of property
damaged or destroyed by storm or floods end the expenditure of
money appropriated therefor!l, the sum of one million five hundred
thousand dollars ($1,500,000.00), out of any moneys unappropriated
in the Postwar Unemployment and Construction Fund in the State

Treasury, Is appropriated to the Emergency Fund specifled in Item
277 of the Budget Act of 1950, to be expended by the Department of
Public Works actlng through the agency of the State E-~gin~er during
the 1950-1951, 1951-52, and 1952-53 fiscal years for the cost of
repalr or restoratlon, or both, of levees, flood control works,
channels, irrigation works, city and county roads arid bridges and
other property damaged or destroyed by storm and flood or flood con-

dltlons subseQuent to October I, 1950, providing such work is
found to be a matter of general publlc and state L~terest and con-
cern, such expenditure and purpose have been approved by the Dir-
ector of Flnance, and moneys equal to or in excess of one-half
the cost thereof are made available by the applicant for expendlture
by the Department of Publlc Works,
NOW, THEREFORE BE,IT RESOLVED, that the applicatlon Is here-
by made to the State of California for tho allocation of the sum
of TWENTY THREE THOU~iD ONE HUNDRED NINETY AND 50/100 ($23,190.50)
DOLLARS, from funds made aval1able from under the prOVisions of said

Chapter 13, Statutes of 1951, for the repair and, restoration
of the following Items:
VOLANTE DRIVE:
Excavation and subgrade 45,000 sq.ft. @
4" crusher run base . 38,500 sq.ft. @
Plant mix, asphalt 2.000 tons @
Tack Coat 30 tons @
Adjust manholes and utl1ltles
Engineering and inspectlon - 5%
Contingencies - 10%

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the ~ityCouncll of the City
of Arcadia does hereby promise and agree to make available from
the gas tax maintenance funds of the City of Arcadia for the
v Volante Drive work, and from the gax tax constructlon fund of the
City of Arcadla for the El Monte Avenue work. and is willing and
a.ble to deposit the sUm of$, 23Jl90.~0
, or such part thereof
as may be requlred in a State controlled fund for the purpose of
matching such allocatlon of funds as the State of Californla may
make under the provlslons of said Chapter 13.
The CltyC1erk shall certify to the adoption' of thls Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolutlon was adopted
at a regular meeting of the Clty COQ~cil of the City of Arcadla,
held on the 20th day of M/1.y 1952. by the affirmative vote of at .
