HomeMy WebLinkAbout2127 RESOLUTION NO.;Z l~ 7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION IN SAID CITY ON THE 24th DAY OF APRIL, 1951, STATING T"rlE MEASURE TO BE VOTED ON, PROVIDING FOR THE POLLING PLACES FOR THE HOLDING OF SUCH SPECIAL ELECTION, APPOINT- ING THE ELECTION OFFICERS FOR THE SAME AND FIXING THEIR COMPENSATION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That a special municipal election heretofore set for the 24th day of April, 1951, be and the same is hereby called to be held in the City of Arcadia, state of California, on Tuesday, the 24th day of April, 1951, f or the following purpose, to-wi t: For the purpose of voting upon the following measure: Shall the proposed Charter of the City of Arcadia, which the City Council on its own motion caused to be prepared and by Resolution No. 2122 ordered filed in the City Clerk's office, be adopted? SECTION 2. That for the purpose of holding said special election there shall be and there are hereby established fourteen (14) election precincts designated as hereinafter stated. That the polling places for the respective precincts shall be the places hereinafter designated, and that the persons hereinafter named, being competent and qualified electors and residents of said City, and of their respective election precincts are hereby appointed officers of election for their respective election precincts, and they shall hold said election and make return thereof in, the manner provided by law: VOTING PRECINCT A, comprising state and county precincts Nos. 1, 14 and 29, and the polling place shall be at Riley's Garage, 1160 Orange Grove Avenue. -1- ,~OG"GO OFFICERS OF ELECTION Inspector: Judge: Clerks: Mrs. Lillian C. That the polls for said special elec- tion shall be opened at 7:00 o'clock A.M. on the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until 7:00 o'clock P.M. of the said day. SECTION 4. That said special municipal elec- tion shall be held in accordance with the provisions of the Election Code of the State of California pertaining to cities of the si~th class, and with the General -4- Election Laws of the State of California. SECTION 5. That the compensation to be paid to each inspector hereinabove mentioned for all services by each inspector to be rendered at said special election shall be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of Twelve ($12.00) Dollars. That the compensation to be paid to each of the other aforesaid officers of election for all services rendered by each of said other officers at said special election shall be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of Ten ($10.00) Dollars. SECTION 6. That said City Council will meet in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on Tuesday, May 1, 1951, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. to canvass the returns of said election and declare the results thereof. SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City of Arcadia, held on the 20th day of March, 1951, by the affirmative vote of at least three Council- men, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Kennett, Klomp, and Sullivan NOES: None ABS~~T: Councilman Nottingham C ATTEST: ttt:~ -5-
