RESOLUTION NO.205~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AND ACCEPTING THE
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF SAID
CITY TO DENY A PETITION FOR A VARIANCE AFFECTING
CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY LOCATED AT 530 NO.FIRST AVENUE
IN SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOI:.VE AS
FOLLOWS:
l(HEREAS, on the 15th day of May, 1950, there was filed
with the Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia, the petition
of Anna Mae Roush as owner, requesting a zone variance affect-
ing the following described real property in the City of Arcadia,
to wit:
Bowers Addition to Arcadia, Lot No.6, recorded
in book M.R. 21, Page 47,
to permit the above described property to be used for the
addition to present building for photo-printing and publish-
ing business as is being conducted at the present time; and
WHEREAS, after notice required by Ordinance NO.760 of
said City, a public hearing on this matter was duly held before
the Planning Commission of the City' of Aroadia on the 19th
day of June, 1950, and on the 6th day of July 1950, and all
interested persons were given a.full opportunity to be heard; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of said Planning Commission
the proposed variance affecting the aforesaid property would
be detrimental to the public welfare and injurious to the
surrounding property, and would adversely affect the compre-
hensive general plan of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Plann1rig Commission of the City of Arcadia
recommended in itsResolution No.30'dated the 20th day of July,
1950, that the aforesaid petition be denied for the following
reasons:
1. That the request of the petitioner is contrary to
the spirit and intent of the Master Zoning Plan of
the City of Arcadia which was adopted and became
effective on June 3, 1940, after a series of public
hearings, which plan was unanimously approved by
the Planning Commission and by the City Council of
the City of Arcadia.

That the granting of said request would permit
the further encroachment of business and commercial
enterprises in a zone or district now designated
for residential purposes.

That the granting of such request is not necessary
for the preservation or enjoyment of any substantial
property right of the applicant, nor are there ex-
ceptional or extraordinary circumstances applicable
to the property involved that do not or would not
apply generally to the other property in the same
vicinity or zone.
and,
WHEREAS, the aforesaid Resolution No.30 of the Planning
Commission of the City of Arcadia, was adopted by said Planning
Commission on July 20, 1950,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of
Arcadia does hereby approve and adopt the foregoing recommendations
of the Planning Commission, as set forth in said Resolution
No.30 of said Commission, and does hereby deny to petitioners
the request for a zone variance as heretofore described.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
. 'I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Arcadia, held on the 1st day of August, 1950, by the affirm-
ative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:

Sullivan
