HomeMy WebLinkAbout2072 RESOLUTION NO. 2072 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, PROTESTING THE PROPOSED ABANDONMENT OR ALTERATION OF RAILWAY EXPRESS SER- VICES IN SAID CITY. Upon the recommendation of the ,Gi ty Clerk of t he City of Arcadia, made after investigation authorized and directed by the City Council of said city, the City Council of the City of Arcadia does hereby find, determine and resolve as follows: That the abandonment of the RaIlway Express services or the alteration of Railway Express services in the City of Arcadia as pre~ently proposed by the Railway Express Agency will not be to the best interests of the citizens, residents and businessmen of the City of Arcadia but will injuriously affect numerous persons in said area. Resolved further, that the City Council of the City of Arcadia, as representatives of the persons affected, go on record as opposing the proposed abandonment or alteration of Railway Express services by the Railway Express Agency. : Resolved further, that the City Council of said City request that proposed abandonment or alteration ,of Railway Express services in the City of Arcadia be dis-allowed unless and until a public hearing is held by the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California whe~e/at all persons interested can be given a full opportunity to be hea~d in the matter of the abandonment or alteration of Railway Express services in this City. Resolved further, that the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and cause a. copy thereof to be forwarded to the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California, attention Mr. Howard Christenson, Engineering Staf~ and to the Railway Express Agency, attention Mr. R. R.
