RESOLUTION NO. 1802
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF T HE CITY OF
ARCADIA, AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN WORK AND IMPROVEMENT
ON A PORTION OF ALTA STREET IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF T~ CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia
did in open session at its regular meeting on August 17, 1948, publicly
open, examine and declare all sealed proposals or bids for doing cer-
tain work and improvement on a portion of Alta Street in the City of
Arcadia; that Resolution of Intention ~o. 1785 heretofore adopted by
this Council on the 6th day of July, 1948, contains a complete des-
cription of said street work and improvement and reference is hereby
made to said Resolution of Intention No. 1785 for a complete description
of said work and improvement.
SECTION 2. That the grade to which the work hereinabove
described shall be done and the improvement made as provided in this
Resolution, is shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-174 on file
in the office of the City Engineer of said City towhich Profile reference
is hereby made for the description of such grade.
SECTION 3. All the foregoing work shall he done in accordance
with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-174 on file in the office
of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia.
All work on grading and the construction of concrete curbs,
gutters, gutters and sidewalks shall be in accordance with the following
Specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of
Arcadia, towit: "Standard Specifications No. 0 for the constru ction
of curbs, sidewalks, gutters, oil macadam pavement and concrete pavement"
All work on the construction of street pavement shall be in
accordance with the following specifications on file in the office of
the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia, toY/it: "Standard Specifications
No; ~ for the construction of a 2-1/4" oil macadam pavement and re-
surfacing. "
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-174 and the

Specifications hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution
No. 1783 of said City Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same
are hereby made a part of this Resolution and are hereby referred to
for a more particular descri~ion of said work. All streets and avenues
referred to in this Resolution are public streets and avenues of said
City of Arcadia.
SECTION 4. That said contemplated work and improvement in
the opinion of the City Council of said City of Arcadia, is of more
than local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby makes
the expense of said work and improvement chargeable upon the District,
which District said City Councilhereby declares to be the District bene-
fited by said work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the costs
and expenses thereof, which said District is completely described in
Resolutian of Intention No. 1785, heretofore adopted by this Council
on the 6th day of July, 1948, and to which Resolution reference is
hereby made for a complete description d: said District to be assessed
to pay the cost and expense of said work and improvement.
SECTION 5. Said City Council a~so determines and declares
that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessrent of Twenty-
five ($25.00) dollars, or more, remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days
after the date of the Warrant to represent the expenses of said work
and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall extend over a period ending
nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding the
fifteenth day of the next October following their date and an even annual
proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on
the second day of January, every year after the fifteenth day of the next
October following their date, until the whole is paid, and the interest
shall be payable semi-annually by coupon on the second days of January
and July respectively of each year after theirdate at the rate of six
(6%) per cent per annum on all sums unpp.id until the whole of said
principal and interest are paid. Said Bonds and interest thereon shall
be payable at the office of the City Yreasurer of the City of Arcadia.

SECTION 6. All of the proceedings for the aforesaid work
and improvement and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had and
taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the
Legislature of the State of California, known a nd designated as the
"Improvement Act of 1911, being Division 7, Streets and Highways Code of
the State of California. "
Reference is hereby made to Resolution of Intention No. 1785,
of said City Council, declaring its intention to order said work to be
done, for further particulars, which Resolution of Intention is on file
in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia.
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that said City Council hereby
rejects all of said proposals or bids except the next herein mentioned
and hereby awards the contract ~or do~g said work and improvement to
the lowest, regular, responsible bidder therefor, ctowit:

improvement.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of this
award twice in the Arcadia Wribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of
general circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia,
and hereby designated for that purpose by said City Council.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on
the l7 day of August, 1948, by the affirmative vote of at least three
Councilmen, towit:
