RESOLUTION NO. 1817
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
AMENDING RESOLUTIONS NOS. 1776 AND 1777 AND PROVIDING
FOR A TEMPORARY INCREASE IN THE COMPENSATION OF CERTAIN
EMPLOYEES OF SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA. CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l. WHEREAS, by the provisions of Resolutions No. 1776
and l777, both adopted on June 30, 1948, the compensation of the
employees of the City of Arcadia was determined and established as
therein set forth, and
WHEREAS, there exists at the present time a temporary emergency
created by a period of inflation resulting in an extraordinary in-
crease in the cost of living which affects all of the employees of
the City of Arcadia:
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Arcadia doe~
hereby resolve that the aforesaid Resolutions Nos. 1776 and 1777
be and they are hereby amended so that for a period of six months
only, commencing on January 1, 1949, and ending on June 30, 1949,
there shall be paid to each employee of said City who is regularly
employed on a monthly basis, except the City Clerk and City Treasurer,
an additional sum in wages or salary of Twenty-five Dollars {$25.00}
per month.
BE IT FURTHER HEREBY RESOLVED that there shall be paid to each
employee of said City, who is employed and paid on an hourly basis,
for the aforesaid period of six months only, an additional sum in
wages or salary equal to twelve per cent of the wages or salary
earned during such period, payable semi-menthly, but in no event
more than twenty-five Dollars per month.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the radio technician in the Police
Department, who is employed by said City under written contract on a
half-time basis, shall be paid, for the aforesaid period of six months
only, an additional sum in wages or salary of Twelve Dollars anf Fifty
Cents ($12.50) per month.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the foregoing temporary increases
shall not be considered as merit increases, under the personnel
system heretofore established in said City of Arcadia or otherwise,
but shall continue and remain in effect only for the specific period
mentioned.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on
the 21st day of December, 1948, by the affirmative vote of at least
three Councilmen, to wit:
