A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, PROVIDING FOR PAY1lliNT OF COMPENSATION FOR ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL AND FOR OVERTIME WORK TO CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE POLICE DEPART~lliNT OF SAID CITY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOTIS: SECTION~. ~HEREAS, a horse-racing meet will be held and con- ducted in the City of Arcadia between December 28, 1948, and March 5, 1949, and "HEREAS, during said horse-racing meet there will be a daily influx into the City of Arcadia of from 25,000 to 70,000 persons, in addition to the normal population of said city, so that the work of the ,Police Department for the period mentioned will be greatly increased and a serious need created thereby for additional police personnel and for additional services and hours by those presently and regularly employed in the Police Department, NOW, THER~FORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the Chief of Police be and he is hereby authorized and directed to employ, in addition to the personnel presently employed in the Police Department, not to exceed fifteen full time officers and not to exceed fifty-one half-time officers at ~1.50 per hour to assist the regular members of the Police Department during the aforesaid periods in traffic control and other police problems; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of Police be and he is hereby authorized to employ and use the regular members of the Police Department of the City of Arcadia to assist in the handling of traffic and other police work, during ~ said meet, in addition to the regular duties of such members, on an overtime basis, for which additional services such members shall be paid at the rate of $1.50 per hour in addition to the regular monthly wages of such members;; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of Police shall keep and maintain and furnish to the City Council a full and complete bi-monthly statement during -said meet of tn~ persons so employed as aforesaid, 1. 'l-lDIi'l-'O the hours and days so employed, the location or locations at which such persons were employed and the amount earned by and payable to each such person under the provisions of this Resolution. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
