RESOLUTION NO. 1844.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
DIRECTING CONSIDERATION BY THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
OF CERTAIN CHANGES ON THE PROPOSED LAND USE PLAN (ZONING
ORDINANCE), INCLUDING A MAP TH1:R EOF, AND RELA TED MATT~S.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTIO~ 1. ;ffiEREAS, pursuant to law, the 6ity Planning Commission
of the City of Arcadia has transmitted to the City Council a completed
draft of a proposed Land Use Plan (Zoning Ordinance), including a map
thereof, and
~~~~EAS, also pursuant to law, the ~ity Council of the City of
Arcadia conducted a public hearing to consider such Land Use Plan
(Zoning Ordinaro e) and the map which is a part thereof, and
WHEREAS, at said hearing certain property owners, as shown by the
minutes of said hearing, did testify on the matters at issue, and certain
requests for changes were made;
NOW, T&REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council :direct that
the following changes be made in the proposed Land Use Plan (Zoning
Ordinance) and the proposed map which is a part thereof, and that said
changes be and t hey are hereby referred to the City Planning Conunission
with the request that the said City Planning Commission, in turn, pur-
suant to law, report back to the City Council any further information
or reconunendations that it may have with respect to said changes and
related matters.
Text Changes
1. That the Section providi'g for an "S-2" Public Purpose Zone,
vlhich Section was omitted from the draft of the ordinance
submitted to the City Council through a misunderstanding,
be included and made applicable to the map of t he City of
Arcadia.
2. That "Motels", "Auto Courts", and "Hotels" shall be removed
from the tentative ordinance as permissible uses in the
"R-3" ZOBe and placed in the "C-2" Zone.
3. That the Text of the proposed Ordimnce be changed to in-

corporate therein a more specific definition of each
of the following terms: "Motels", "Auto Courts" and
"Hotels".
Map Changes
That the prop6rty on the Southeast corner of
Longley Way and Woodruff Avenue, intended to be
used by the Episcopal Church for a new edifice, now
shown on the proposed map as "R-2" be changed to
Zone "R-l". Deed restrictions applicable to subject
property appear to prohibit its use for my thing but "R-l".
That all property in the area on Fairview Avenue,
Arcadia Avenue, and Golden West Avenue, as far west as
Sunset Boulevard be changed from "R-l" to"R-3".
That the "R-3" Zoning indicated along Las Tunas and
Li ve Oak from El ;';onte to the Ci ty Boundar;:,. be given
a more uniform depth, and that consideration be given to
the two corners at Santa Anita Avenue and Las Tunas,
as a part 0 f ZOlle "C-2".
4. That the three lots between Joyce Avenue and the East
end of the bridge on Colorado Boulevard be changed from
"R-l" to "R-3".

5. That the property on the West side of Second Avenue between
Duarte Road and California be changed from "R-2" to "R-3".
6. That Lot 50, facing on Forest Avenue be changed to "R-2",
and Lot 39, immediately north of Lot 50 and fronting on
Floral Avenue, be chansed from "R-3" to "R-2".
7. With reference to the four corners at Second Avenue and
Du~te Road, the Council agrees with the recommended zoning
of the Norti1. side 0 f Duat'te as "R-211 and the South side as
"R-l", but because there has been a request to change such
zoning to "C-2", and the further fact that at present non-
conforming uses appear to exist on certain of the properties,
the Council requests further report from the Commission

on this subject and particularly as to a more expeditious method
for dealing with the matter by way of variance.
SECTIon 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 1st day of 1farch, 1949, by the affirmative vote of
at least three Councilmen, towit:
