HomeMy WebLinkAbout1865 RESOLUTION NO. 1865 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, CONCERNING THE WATER EMERGENCY IN CALIFORNIA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. WHEREAS, there is pending in Congress a proposal to construct, at the expense of the American people, an irrigation project in Arizona which would serve to deprive the people of California of the Colorado River water which they so badly need, and to which the people in California are entitled, NOW, THEREFORE, the said City Council hereby records its opposition to House Bill 934 and Senate Bill 75, and expresses the hope that the settlement of any existing controversy concerning the Colorado River water may be submitted for settlement to the Supreme Court of the United Statesl. SECTION 2. ThEt copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Honorable William F. Knowland and Sheridan Downey, Senators, Senate Office Building, Washington, D. C. , and to the Honorable Richard M. Nixon, Member of Congress, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regulaI' meeting of the City Council of t he City of Arcadia, held on the 3rd day of May, 1949, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, towit: AYES . .
