HomeMy WebLinkAbout1868 RESOLUTION NO. 1868 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, PROVIDING FOR PA~lliNT OF COMPENSATION FOR ADDITIONAL POLICE PERSONNEL AND FOR OVERTI~ffi WORK TO CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF SAID CITY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. \7HEREAS, a horse-racing meet will be held and con- ducted in the City of pxcadia between May 17, 1949, and July 22, 1949, aIrl WHEREAS, during said horse-racing meet there will be a daily influx into the City of Arcadia of from 20,000 to 85,000 persons, in addition to the normal population of said city, so that the work of the ~olice Department for the period mentioned will be greatly increased and a serious need created thereby for additional police personnel andfor additional services and hours by these presently and regularly emp~oyed in the Police Department, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chief of Police be and he is hereby authorized and directed to employ, in addition to the personnel presently employed in the Police Department, not to exceed fifteen full time officers and not to exceed fifty-one half-time officers whose compensation is hereby fixed and established at $1.50 per hour to assist the regular members of the Police Depart- ment during the aforesaid periods in traffic control and other police problems; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of Police be and he is hereby authorized to employ and use the regular members of the Police Department of the City of Arcadia to assist in the handling of traffic and other police work, during ~ said meet, in addition to the regular duties of such members, on an overtime basis, for which additional services such members shall be paid at the rate of $1.50 per hour in addition to the regular monthly wages of such members; BE rr FURTHER RESOLVED that t he Chief of Police shall keep and maintain and furnish to the City Council a full and complete -1- I"g~ll bi-monthly statement durine said meet of the persons so employed as aforesaid, the hours and days so employed, the location or locations at which such persons were employed and the amount earned by and pay- able to each such person under the provisions of this Resolution. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that for and during the aforesaid period of Nay 17, 1949 to July 22, 1949, there shall be paid to the Chief of Police of said City, in addition to his re~llar salary, the sum of $3.00 per hour as compensation for additional and overtime hours of work performed by him in the Police Department of the City of Arcadia, during said period. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that for and during the said period of May 17, 1949 to July 2~, 1949, there shall be paid to Harry T. Peterson, sergeant in the Police Department, in additidn to his regular monthly salary, the sum of (~2.00 per hour to compensate him for additional and overtime hours of work performed by him in the Police Department of the City of Arcadia, during the said period. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of Police shall keep and maintain and furnish to the City Council a full and complete bi-monthly statement during said meet of the hours and days actually devoted by said Harry T. Peterson and himself, to overtime work, which is additional to their regular hours of work, and the amount earned by and payable t 0 them under the provisions of this Resolution. SECTION 2. The City ClerIc shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Co~~cil of the City of Arcadia, held on the 17th day of May, 1949, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, towit: AYES : Councilmen, Boucher, Klomp, Libby, Nugent and Russell NOES ABSENT : None None Clerk. -2-
