RESOLUTION NO. 1878
A RESOLUTIO.f OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE ill[TY OF ARCADIA
ORDERING CERTAIN ~ORK AND IMPROVE1lliNT TO BE DONE ON POR-
TIONS OF ELDORADO STREET, F~fO STREET, GENOA STRbET, AND
ALICE STREbT, IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THB CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFOrufIA, DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l. That the public interest and convenience require that
certain work and improvement be done in the City of Arcadia, towit:
the construction of concrete curbs and gutters, concrete sidewalks and
oil macadam pavement, and the City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby
orders the same to be done, in accordance with S~cifications and
Improvement Plan No. C-177, sheets 1 to 4 inclusive, on file in the office
of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia, adopted for said work, and
under direction and to the satis~action of Street Superintendent of the
said City of Arcadia; that Resolution of Intention No. 1859 heretofore
adopted by tn~s Council on the 15th day of March~ 1949, contains a com-
plete description of the work and improvement to be done pursuant to
this Resolution, and reference is hereby made to said Resolution of In-
tent ion No. 1859 f or a conp lete description of the said work and improve-
ment, and of the ~treets or portions of such streets in wh~ch said work
and improvement shall be done.
SECTION 2. That the grade to which the work hereinabove described
shall be done and the improvement made as provided in this Resolution
is shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-177 on file in the office
of the City Engineer of City, to which Profile reference is hereby made
for t he description of such grade.
SECTION 3. All of the foregoing work shall be done in accordance
with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-177, sheets 1 to 4 in-
clusive, on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Ar-
cadia.
All worle on grading and the construction of concrete curbs, con-
crete gutters and concrete sidewalks shall be in accordance with the

the following specifications on file in the office of the City Engineer
of said City of Arcadia, towit:
"Standard Specifications No. 0, for the construction of curbs,
sidevlalks, gutters, oil macadam and concrete pavemeht."
All work on construction of oil macadam pavement shall be in
accordance vith the following specifications on file in the office of
the City Engineer of s aid City of Arcadia, towit:
"Standard Specifications No.3, for the construction of 2t" oil
macadam pavement and resurfacing ".
Said ~ofile and Improvement Plan No. C-177 and the specifications
hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution NO. 1858 of said
City Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same are hereby made a part
of this Resolution and are hereby referred to for a more particular
description of said TIork. All streets and avenues referred to in this
Resolution are public streets and avenues of said City.
SECTION 4. That said contemplated work and improvement in the
opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is of more than ~ocal
or ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby makes the expense
of said work and improvement chargeable upon the District, \"I hich District
said City Council hereby declares to be the District benefited by said
work and improvement and to be assesstld to pay t he costs and expenses
thereof, which said District shall include all those lots, or parcels
of land, and all the land in the said City of Arcadia fronting on and
adjacent to the streets or portions of such streets described in said
Resolution of Intention l~. 1859. A plat or map of said District in-
dicating by a boundary line the extent of the lands included in said
District was approved and adopted by Resolution No. 1857 of the City of
Arcadia on the 19th day of April, 1949, and is on file in the office of
the eity Engineer of the City of Arcadia; reference is hereby made to
said plat or ma'p for a further, full, and complete description of said
Assessment District, which s aid plat or map is designated as Assessment
District No. W-49, and said map so on file shall govern for all details
as to the extent of such assessment District.

SECTION 5. Said City Council also determines and declares that
Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of Twenty-
five Dollars (~25.00), or more, remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days
after the date of the ~arrant to represent the expenses of said work
and improvements. Said Serial Bonds shall extend over a period ending
nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding the next
October 15th, following their date and an even annual proportion of the
principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second day of
January of each year, follovnng the next October 15th, after their date,
until the whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi-annually
by coupon on the second days of January and July respectively of each
year after their date at the rate of six per cent (6%) per annum on all
sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and interest are paid.
Said Bonds and interest thereon shall be payable at the office of the
City Treasurer of the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 6. All proceedings for t he aforesaid Ylork and improvement
and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had and taken under and in
accordance with the provisions of nn Act of the Legislature of the State
of California, known and designated as the "Improvement Act of 1911,
being Division 7, Streets and Highways Code of the State of California".
SECTION 7. The Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a weekly newspaper
of general circulation, published and circulat ed in s aid City of Arcadia,
is hereby designated as the newspaper in which notice of said work and
improvement inviting sealed proposals shall be published in the manner
and form and by the persons required by law.
SECTION 8. ~he City Clerk of said City of Arcadia is hereby directed
to post conspicuously for five days, on or near the Council Cha~ber door
of said City Council, in the manner and form required by law, a notice,
together with the Specifications therefor, inviting sealed proposals or
bids for doing said work and said City Clerk is also directed to pub-
lish twice in said newspaper designated as gf',oresaid in the manner and
form required by law, a notice invitinG sealed proposals or bids for do~
ing said work, and referring to the Specifications posted or on file.

Said notice shall require a certified check or bond, either, as pres-
cribed by law for ~. amount not less than ten per cent of the aggre-
gate of the prpposal.
Said sealed proposals or bids shall be delivered to the City Clerk
of said City of Arcadia on or before eight o'clock P. M., on
June 21, 1949; bids ~ill be opened on said day and hour.
SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution .
I HE~EBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at
a regular meeting of the City Council of the City or Arcadia, held
on the 7th day of June, 1949, by the affirmative vote of at least
three Councilmen, towit:
