HomeMy WebLinkAbout1883 RESOLUTION NO. 1883 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN WORK AND IMPROVEMENT ON PORTIONS OF EL DORADO STREET, FANO STREET, GENOA STREET, AND ALICE STREET, IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arcadia did in open session at its regular meeting on June 21, 1949, publicly open, examine and declare all seal ed proposals or bids for doing certain work and improvement on portions of El Dorado Street, Fano Street, Genoa Street, and Alice Street in the City of Arcadia; that Resolution of Intention No. 1859, heretofore adopted by this Council on tbe 15th day of March, 1949, contains a complete description of said work and improvement and reference is hereby made to said Reso- lution of Intention No. 1859 for a complete description of s aid work and improvement. SECTION 2. That the grade to which the work hereinabove des- cribed shall be done and the improvement made as provided in this Resolution is shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-177 on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City, to which Profile refer- ence is hereby made for t he description of such grade. SECTION 3. All of the foregoing work shall be done in accord- ance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-177 on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia. All work on grading and the constructionof concrete curbs shall be in accordance with the following Specifications on file in the office of the City Engineer of the said City of Arcadia, tow1t: "Standard Specifications No. 0 for the construction of curbs, sidewalks, gutters, oil macadam pavement and concrete pavement." All work on the construction of oil macadam pavement shall be in accordance with the following speci- fications on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia, towit: "standard Specifications No.3 for the construction of 2t" inch oil,lIlacadam pavement and resurfacing". -1- v> ~9~ ~, Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-177 and the Specifications hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution No. 1858 of said City Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same are hereby made a part of this Resolution and are hereby referred to for a more particular description of said work. All streets and avenues referred to in this Resolution are public streets and avenues of said City of Arcadia. SECTION 4. That said contemplated work and improvement in the opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is of more than local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby makes the ex- pense of said work and improvement chargeable upon the District, which District said City Council hereby declares to be the District benefited by said work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the cost and ex- penses thereof, which said District is completely described in Reso- lution of Intention No. 1859, heretofore adopted by this Council on the 15th day of March, 1949, and to which Resolution reference is hereby made for a complete description of said District to be assessed to pay the cost and expense of said work and improvement. SECTION 5. Said City Council also determines and declares that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of twenty- five ($25.00) dollars, or more, remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days after the date of the Warrant to represent the expenses of said work and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding the next October 15th, following their date and an even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second day of January, of each year following the next October 15th, after their date, until the whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi- annually by coupon on the second days of January and July respectively of each year after their date at the rate of six (6%) per cent per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and interest are paid. Said bonds and interest tbereon shall be payable at the office of the City Treasurer of the City of Arcadia. SECTION 6. All of the proceedings for the aforesaid work and -2- improvement and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had and taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, known and designated as the "Improvement Act of 1911", approved April 7, 1911, and of all Acts supplementary thereto or amendatory thereof. Reference is hereby made to Resolution of Intention No. 1859, of said City Council, declaring its intention to order said work to be done for further particulars, which Resolution of Intention'is on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that said City Council hereby rejects all of said proposals or bids except the next herein mentioned and hereby awards the contract for doing said work and improvement to the lowest, regular, responsible bidder therefor, towit: TO Pa~ke; RniinAA~1ni ~n. at the prices mentioned in their proposal on file for said work and improvement. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of this award twice in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia, and hereby designated for that purpose by said City Council. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of t his Resolution.
