A RESOLu~ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING CERTAIN WORK
A~ID IMPROVE~illr~ TO BE DONE ON THE FIRST ALLEY
NORTH OF HwfTINGTON DRIVE, IN SAID CITY OF
ARCADIA.

AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience
require that certain work and improvement be done in the
City of Arcadia, to wit: That a concrete gutter three (31)
feet in width, be constructed along a line fourteen feet
(141) southerly from and parallel with the northerly line
of the First Alley north of Huntington Drive, from the
easterly line of First Avenue to the westerly line of Indiana
Street, except where such concrete gutter is now in place to
the official line and grade, and is in good condition, and
that the portion of the said alley between a line ore (11)
foot southerly from and parallel with the northerly line of
said alley and the northerly gutter line thereof, from the
easterly line of First Avenue to the westerly line of Indiana
Street be graded and paved with asphaltic concrete pre-mix
pavement two and one quarter (2%") inches in thickness, and
also that portion of the said alley between a line one (1')
foot northerly from and parallel with the southerly line of
said alley and the southerly gutter line thereof, from the
easterly line of First Avenue and the westerly line of Indiana
Street be graded and paved with asphaltic concrete pre-mix
pavement two and a quarter (2i") inches in thickness, except
where such asphaltic concrete pre-mix pavement, or oil macadam
pavement is now in place to the official line and grade, and
is in good condition; and also that a cement concrete apron
six inches (6") in thickness be constructed in the intersection

of First Avenue with the westerly termination of the first
Alley north of Huntington Drive, from a line ten (101) feet
westerly from and parallel wich the easterly line of First
Avenue, except where such cement concrete apron is now in
place to the official line and grade, and is in good condi-
tion, and the City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby
orders the same to be done, in accordance with the Specifica-
tions and the Improvement Plan No. C-184, on file in the of-
fice of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia, adopted for
said work, and under the direction and to the satisfaction of
the Street Superintendent of said City of Arcadia; that Reso-
lution of Intention No. 1949, heretofore adopted by the City
Council on the 15th day of November, 1949, contains a complete
description of the work and improvement to be done pursuant
to this Resolution, and reference is hereby made to said Reso-
lution of Incention No. 1949, for a complete description of
the said work and improvement, and of the streets, or portions
of streets in which said work and improvement shall be done.
SECTION 2. That the grade to which the work hereinabove
described shall be done and the improvement made as provided
in this Resolution is shown on Profile and Improvement plan No.
C-184, on file in the office of the City Engineer of the
City, to which frofilereference is hereby made for the des-
cription of such grade.
SECTION 3. All of the foregoing work shall be done
in a ccordance with said Profile and Improvement plan No. C-184,
on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of
Arcadia.
All work on grading and the construction of concrete
gutters shall be in accordance with the following specifica-

tions on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City,
to wit: "Standard Specifications No. 0 and No.1, for the
construction of curbs, sidewalks, gutters, oil macadam and
concrete pavement".
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-184 and the
specifications hereinabove referred to were adopted by Re-
solution No. 1947 of said City Council of the City of Arcadia,
and the same are hereby made a part of this Resolution and
are hereby referred to for a more particular description of
said work. All streets and avenues referred to in this Re-
solution are public streets and avenues of said City.
SECTION 4. That said contemplated work and improvement,
in the opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is
of more than local or ordinary public benefit and said City
Council hereby makes the expense of said work and improvement
chargeable upon the District, which District said City Council
hereby declares to be the District benefitted by said work
and improvement and to be assessed to pay the costs and
expenses thereof, which said District shall include all those
lots, or parcels of land, and all of the land in the said
City of Arcadia fronting on and adjacent to the streets or
portions of such streets described in s aid Resolution of
Intention No. 1949. A Plat or Map of said District indicat-
ing by a boundary line the extent of the lands included in
said District was approved and adopted by Resolution No. 1948,
of the City of Arcadia on the 15th day of November, 1949,
and is on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City
of Arcadia; reference is hereby made to s aid Plat or Map for
a further, full and complete description of said Assessment
District, which said Plat or Map is designated as Assessment
District No. W-57, and said map so on file shall govern for
all details as to the extent of such Assessment District.

SECTION 5. Said City'Council also determines and
declares that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each
assessment of Twenty-five Dollars (i~25.00) or more, remaining
unpaid for thirty (30) days after the date of the Warrent to
represent the expenses of said work and improvements. Said
Serial Bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years
from the second day of January next succeeding the next Octo-
ber 15th, following their date and an even annual proportion
of the principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on
the second day of January of each year, following the next
October 15th, after their date, until the whole is paid, and
the interest shall be payable semi-annually by coupon on the
second days of January and July, respectively, of each year
after their date at the rate of six per cent (6%) per annum
on all sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and
interest are paid. Said Bonds and interest thereon shall be
payable at the office of the City Treasurer of the City of
Arcadia.
SECTION 6. All proceedings for the aforesaid work
and improvement and for the issuance of said Bonds shall
be had and taken under and in accordance with the provisions
of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, known
and designated as the "Improvement Act of 1911", being Divi-
sion 7, Streets and Highways Code of the State of California.
SECTION 7. The Arcadia Bulletin, a weekly newspaper
of general circulation, published and circulated in said
City of Arcadia, is hereby designated as the newspaper in which
notice of said work and improvement, inviting sealed proposals,
shall be published in the manner and form and by the persons
required by law.

SECTION 8. The City Clerk of the City of Arcadia is
hereby directed to post conspicuously for five days, on or
near the Council Chamber door of said City Council, in the
manner and form required by law, a notice, together with the
Specifications therefor, inviting sealed proposals or bids
for doing said work and said City Clerk is also directed to
publish t~ice in said newspaper designated as aforesaid, in
the manner and form required by law, a notice inviting sealed
proposals or bids for doing said work, and referring to the
Specifications posted or on file. Said notice shall require
a certified check, or bond, either, as prescribed by law, for
an amount not less than ten per cent of the aggregate of the
proposal.
Said sealed proposals or bids shall be delivered to
the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia on or before eight
o'clock p.m. on January 17th, 1950; bids will be opened on
said day and hour.
SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Pxcadia, held on the 20th day of December, 1949,
by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
