A RESOLu~ION OF THE CITY COm~CIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING CERTAIN WORK AND
IMPROVE1ffijIT TO BE DONE ON A PORTION OF DIAM01ID
STREET IN SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the pUblic interest and convenience
require that certain work and improvement be done in the City
of Arcadia, to wit: That a concrete sidewalk be constructed
along the southerly side of Diamond Street, from Santa Anita
Avenue to First Avenue, and also that concrete sidewalk be
constructed in the return at the southeast corner of Santa Anita
Avenue and Diamond Street, except where such concrete sidewalk
is now in place to the official line and grade and is in good
condition, and the City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby
orders the same to be done, in accordance with the Specifications
and the Improv3ment Plan No. C-185 on file in the Office of the
City Engineer of said City of Arcadia, adopted for said work, and
under the direction and to the satisfaction of the Street Super-
intendent of said City of Arcadia; that Resolution of Intention
No. 1956, heretofore adopted by the City Council on the 6th day
of December, 1949, contains a complete description of the work
and improvement to be done pursuant to this Resolution, and
reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 1956,
for a complete description of the said work and improvement, and
of the portions of streets in which said work and improvement
shall be done.
SECTION 2. That the grade to which the work herein-
above described shall be done and the improvement made as pro-
vided in this Resolution is shown on Profile and Improvement
Plan No. C-185, on file in the Office of the City Engineer of
the City, to which Profile reference is hereby made for the des-
cription of such grade.

SECTION 3. All of the foregoing work shall be done
in accordance with s aid Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-
185, on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of
Arcadia.

All work on grading and the construction of sidewalks
shall be in accordance with the following specifications on
file in the office of the City Engineer of said City, to wit:
"Standard Specifications No. 0, for the construction of curbs,
sidewalks, gutters, oil macadam and concrete pavement".
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-185 and the
specifications hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution
No. 1955 of said City COw~cil of the City of Arcadia, and the
same are hereby made a part of this Resolution and are hereby
referred to for a more particular description of said work.
All streets referred to in this Resolution are public streets of
said City.
SECTION 4. That said contemplated work and improvement,
in the opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is of
more than local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council
hereby makes the expense of said work and improvement chargeable
upon the District, which District said City Council hereby declares
to be the District benefitted by said work and improvement and to

be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof, which said
District shall include all those lots, or parcels of land, and

all of the land in the said City of Arcadia fronting on and adja-
cent to the streets or portions of such streets described in said
Resolution of Intention No. 1956. A Plat or Map of said District
indicating by a boundary line the extent of the lands included in
said District was approved and adopted by Resolution No. 1954 of
the City of Arcadia, on the 6th day of December, 1949, and is
on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of Arcadia;

reference is hereby made to said Plat or I\;ap for a ftwther, full
and complete description of said Assessment Dis tric t, which said
Plat or I\Iap is designated as Assessment District No. rl-56, and
said Map s 0 on file shall govern for all details as to the extent
of such assessment District.
SECTION 5. Said City Council also determines and de-
clares that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assess-
ment of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) or more, remainine; unpaid
for thirty (30) days after the d ate of the Warrent to represent
the expenses of said work and impl'ovement. Said Serial Bonds
shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years from the second
day of January next succeeding the next October 15th, following
their date and an even annual proportion of the principal sum
thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second day of January of
each year, following the next October 15th after their date, until
the whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi-annually
by coupon on the second days of January and July, respectively, of
each year after their date at the rate of six per cent (65~) per
annum on all sums unpaid until the vlhole of said principal and
interest are paid. Said bonds and interest thereon shall be pay-
able at the office of the City Treasurer of the City of ft~cadia.
SECTION 6. All proceedings for the aforesaid work and
improvement and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had and
taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the
Legislature of the State of California, known and desiGnated as
the "Improvement Act of 1911", being Division 7, streets and
Highways Code of the State of California.
SECTION 7. The Arcadia Bulletin, a weekly newspaper of
general circulation, published rod circulated in said City of
Arcadia, is hereby designated as the newspaper in which notice of
said work and improvement, inviting sealed proposals, shall be
published in the manner and form and by the persons required by law.

SECTION 8. The City Clerk of the City of Arcadia is
hereby directed to post conspicuously for five days, on or near
the Council Chamber door of said City COilllCil, in the manner and
form required by lavl, a notice, together with the Specifications
therefor, in~iting sealed proposals or bids for doing said work
and said City Clerk is also directed to publish twice in said
newspaper designated as aforesaid, in the manner and form required
by law, a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing said
work, and referring to the Specifications posted or on file.
Said notice shall require a certified check, or bond, either, as
prescricribed by law, for an amount not less than ten per cent
of the aggregate of the proposal.
Said sealed proposals or bids shall be delivered to the
City Clerk of said City of Arcadia on or before eight o'clock p.m.
on February 7th, 1950; bids will be opened on said day and hour.
SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall certify to tb.e adoption
of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adopted at a regular me~ting of the City Council of the City of
Arcadia, held on the 3rd day of January, 1950, by the affirmative
vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
